Pros

Not a single pro. Seriously. Not even the free beauty products are worth working in this incredibly toxic environment.

Cons

Purple has problems. In the 6 months since 2018 has begun, over 30 (yes, thirty!) people have quit the NYC office. The total office number fluctuates between the 45-55 ish range, so 30 is more than half. This is unacceptable. Even worse, management show a level of incompetence i never thought possible. The beauty team is the actual worst. The bullying is perpetuated by the entire team, and encouraged by the team leaders. I've had multiple friends ask me about working at Purple because there are ALWAYS job availabilities on multiple job sites (which is how I got tricked into working here- job availability, plain and simple). I always say NO- no amount of money or free beauty products is worth the level of bullying, intolerance, incompetence, and flat out cattiness that exists here. The worst part is, no one can tell HR about the bosses because 1) the CEO plays favorites and 2) THERE IS NO HR IN NYC. How is this possible?! (Side note: they actually flew in the corporate team to come talk to us about these glassdoor reviews as an intimidation tactic to get us to keep our mouths shut. They seriously asked the bosses to send a representative of each team to talk with corporate... obviously this is going to be biased and full of lies. HR team- do your job, get to the root of the problem [management, bullying, lying to clients!] and get rid of the problem when you find it. It's not that hard) The pay is terrible, seriously. Interns do nothing other than unpack boxes. Work life balance does not exist- you are expected to show up at 9 and leave usually 7:30 or 8 even though the contract SPECIFIES that "any time you spend at your desk after 6 is of your own free will and your own free time." I showed this to a lawyer friend who said this basically makes the entire contract void, because the entire contract is worded in a way to hurt the employees and favor the company solely. You have been warned. Bottom line: This business will sink. It is impossible to have a functioning business where employees are belittled, unappreciated, and bullied. Guys, its really not that hard to have happy employees- just be nice to them and respect them! Without happy employees, no good work is produced; without good work produced, the company cannot succeed. Also, clients are rapidly evaporating because management consistently lies (!!!!) to the clients (who, by the way, almost ALWAYS call them out for this!). Do yourself a favor and avoid having Purple on your resume. Seriously, it's embarassing.

Pros

A few nice people and interesting clients.

Cons

I am telling you now not to ignore the reviews you see here. That’s what I did and boy did I regret it. There is absolutely no structure or training. You are thrown in and expected to know where everything is and how to do everything. there are account executives who will bully you because you are new or lower on the chain of command. You work until 9 pm or later and it’s expected to do so. Genuinely a nightmare and the salary is absolutely so under the normal salary, a boutique firm could even offer more. The retention rate is so low there are about 7 people I can think of that have been there for over a year. Some employees have even picked up their stuff and walked out. I never write reviews on Glassdoor but I do not want anyone to have this experience. Do not be blinded by the big names and social media it is a PUBLIC RELATIONS NIGHTMARE.

Pros

Sometimes receive scraps of free gifting that people forgot to send out. There also seems to be very supportive divisions within the company, unfortunately fashion & beauty are not a part of this.

Cons

I've never seen so much workplace toxicity in my entire career. There's a reason that they're always hiring and it's because nobody ever stays longer than a few months... including clients that are brought on in handfuls but never given proper attention because everyone is stretched to the max. All employees under upper management are in a constant state of pressure and 24/7 bullying. If you make one minor mistake, you are called out and belittled in front of the entire office for no other reason than public humiliation. If a client email comes in over the weekend, you MUST answer it within an hour or else you are spammed with calls and texts on your personal number until it's taken care of. The work/life balance is nonexistent, with constant harassment stacked on top of it. If they try lying to you saying it's a hybrid work schedule, take it from me that you will NEVER see a day where you can work from home, let alone leave for 15 minutes to get lunch, without getting screamed at. Do not take these reviews as lightly as i did thinking they could be an over-exaggeration from an unfortunate few past employees. They are not; everyone feels this.
