Not a great place to work

Pros

Quill WAS a great place to work prior to the new President coming on board. The only pros to working at Quill are the health benefits.

Cons

The new President and his leadership team have taken this company into a different place. It’s not a happy place. There is NO work life balance and you are expected to work 24/7. The culture went down the tubes and EVERYONE in unhappy since he came on board. Associates are walking out the doors now and not giving notice because the place is toxic. My advice, don’t apply to work here or come near this place. You will regret it.

Pros

You receive great gifts from the vendors when they come in for lunch & learns or vendor shows. The prizes, provided by vendors, for the company raffles are really good.

Cons

You are micro managed. They are a business and they only care about making money. They could care less about their employees who make the company money. Half of the admin team is helpful the other half could care less about helping their reps and are extremely rude. I did my own admin work most of the time to save my self the trouble of dealing with them. The admin manager sets the tone for the team and is just as rude. There is a team manager who plays guitar in the middle of the day and has no clue how to do the job. She yells over the partitions all day to talk to her employees which disrupts my calls to customers. There is NO room for growth and when there is they hire managers who play their guitars and another who screams and corrects her employees on the floor for all to hear. The upper management team has NO sales experience but are running the sales team. They set goals that they could never meet but expect you to get. Most of the sales team is on a corrective write up and will probably lose their jobs. That's a great way to come into work each day; great motivator, knowing you will probably be fired. Quill was by far the 2nd worse company I have ever worked for. I would never refer my worst enemy to work there.

Pros

My co-workers are great. Benefits are also good.

Cons

Where do I begin? Quill is a complete mess. Upper management doesn't care about their employees and my current team manager appears not to care about his/her team. They are only out for themselves and offer no real help. I will say there a some good managers at quill though so it's not all of them. But they drive this selling time into the ground where it really doesn't matter at all. They think if you get 3 or 4 hours everyday for the month you will get 100% which isn't true at all. I see the call report everyday and I see people with 1 hour on the phone exceed 100% month in and month out. Your forced to make so many calls where you can even focus on the customer anymore. You can't even work on a pricing program efficiently because you're so focused on getting selling time. Quill is turning into a rotating door. People are being put on a performance plan left and right. They are weeding out great sales reps because their territory is weak. This place is just very upsetting.
