Pros
I enjoyed nightshift as there were less people around and I was able to get my work done efficiently. I enjoyed most of my coworkers on nightshift as well. Hourly pay rate was reasonable. Paid lunch break.
Cons
- Ineffective, inexperienced, occasionally rude and unprofessional management. -Micromanaging by refusing to let experienced staff make any even simple troubleshooting decisions without asking Supervisor. - Occasionally unsafe work environment (4L solvent bottles stored on the top shelf of an unstable cabinet, refusal to buy medium gloves for a period of time, ignored staff when they said the fume hood filters needed to be replaced) - Literally cameras every 2 feet including inside the break room. - No room for advancement. - Wouldn't fire people for not working but would "fire" people when they gave their notice of leaving. - Frequent equipment failures and poor maintenance practices. - Management has no respect for nightshift workers. (Worked 9p-5a and would get calls at 10am while sleeping, mandatory meetings were also often at 9 or 10am which meant only sleeping for a few hours after being up for 16 if you drove home or sleeping in your car in the parking lot that day)
