Good engineering team, but poor executive team

Pros

Interesting problems with cool product. Actual technical team of engineers is amazing.

Cons

Company had so much potential but outlook is not great now. Ruined with new executive hires and their lack of understanding of technical issues. Seems like they don't know what they are doing and want to impose their will on the team and make changes that have zero real impact. Will ignore valid comments/concerns from engineers and very often dodges these questions and concerns in all hands meetings. Several rounds of massive layoffs immediately after huge hiring spree.

Pros

Healthcare benefits are paid for. Once upon a time, there were a lot of snacks and team culture

Cons

Poor and inexperienced leaders. The company lost a lot of great talent when the engineers realized this was a party company with a checkbook for extravagant events and failed clothing lines to celebrate the CEO. The leaders have not provided clear direction for the tech development, and their financial planning has led to mass layoffs as a result of their "throw money at the problem" approach. Rumor is they're making people sign NDA to receive severance...another story of a mismanaged startup.
