Pros

1) Extremely high salary compared to other startups (is this really a pro?). I habve to admit my salary was the highest it had ever been with RGB. Had to take a significant paycut to jump ship to another startup. 2) Free weekly lunch during the first few years. Monthly lunches currently. 3) Located in Silicon Valley

Cons

1) Employees are extremely overpaid compared to skill (management and engineers). I am currently in another startup with 30% PhD's and my current company's payroll is nowhere near as high as RGB is paying. (Don't ask me how I know). 2) Executive team is the worst I have ever worked for. Management is extremely short sighted. New projects are always behind competitors. Suggestions are overlooked. After the first VP of Engineering left, everything went south. 3) Inter-department relationship is the worst in my whole career. Each department has a "That's not my problem, so I won't help you" mentality. Too much politics. Marketing vs HW Eng vs SW Eng vs Mfg. That doesn't work for a startup! 4) Company spends like there's no tomorrow. Everyone in management is a prima-donna (Gotta have a mabook, iphone, own private office). No cost savings at all!!! 5) Company is going downhill. I was one of the first 30 employees. After more than 6 years, I had to jump ship because of all the politics involved. Even the three founders quit. 6) Ego. Half of the company is either VP, director, or manager. Too many chiefs, not a lot of engineers. 7) Extremely high turnover of employees. It seems no one can last.

Pros

The first, and most definitely the last, all expenses paid trip to Cabo San Lucas for the whole company in April 2011. Free monthly company lunches.

Cons

It's a revolving door of incompetence. Be careful not to let it hit you on your way out. Better odds of success with the California Lottery. The acidic work environment poisons the minds of all those who work there and brings out the worst in everyone. Although the employees are very talented, the gross mismatch of their skills to the projects often results in delays that last from months to indefinite and beyond. This breeds hostility towards each other as everyone deflect blame and fends for their own survival, all the while leaving everyone questioning each other of their own incompetence. These forlorn souls roam the hallways aimlessly without competent guidance from the management that will lead them anywhere but into the abyss of failed companies.
