Burnout Central with a Crazed Parent
Pros
While at Recurrent, the fun stuff is that you’ll likely get the opportunity to get your hands dirty and influence quite a few things in an industry with a cause that is easy to believe in. This is all exciting. And you’ll get to work for an industry leader who is well-known, still (at least decently) reputable, and poised for continued great accomplishments.
Cons
The culture has dried up like a prune that’s been sitting in the sun for two long, scorching summers. There are embarrassingly few females in leadership--minimal diversity overall for that matter. This has been seen on multiple teams across the organization. If anyone on your team quits, it’s likely that management is not going to backfill the position. When you take on the extra work (because the work still needs to get done), expect to see no financial compensation or other real recognition. To anyone considering working here, you’d better be okay working your rear end off with very little recognition for a company who will turn a deaf ear to your cries for support, tell you they’re “working on it," and then demand even more.
