Unprofessional and Dysfunctional Work Environment

Pros

- Parties and a cool looking office, however a smattering of parties can’t make up for a dysfunctional day-to-day work environment. - Cheaper cost of living in the area - They upgrade computer equipment every three years

Cons

- No processes or procedures. Any that do exist are routinely ignored at the whim of upper management, which leads to a high stress, high burn out environment. - Verbal abuse from a colleague is tolerated. They also tolerate symbolic violence in the office. Throwing a chair because you’re angry is unprofessional. - Don’t respect the boundaries of personal and professional life. I was told on many occasions you should always be thinking about work. The unspoken expectation is that Red Square comes first in your life. - No path for employee growth. Promotions are rare, and there is very little in the way of professional training. Mentors are something you have to find elsewhere. - Hard work is rewarded with more work. And it’s constant grind it out type work. - Inconsistent bonuses and raises. - The clients rule and there is a pervasive culture of fear of the client. You’re treated more as a vendor than a partner by the client. “Just do what I say” sums it up. - Upper management is unresponsive to employee concerns. They’ll tell you they will take care of something and never do. - Job security seems worse than typical. - Total lack of transparency. Management maintains a culture of secrecy.

Be wary of the reviews

Pros

There's a full bar. Only agency in town. As other reviews have mentioned, there's a dog.

Cons

If you look at the dates, you'll see that several positive reviews often come immediately or shortly after a few scathing reviews. This is management saying oh no, we have to artificially inflate our numbers! Not saying there's nothing positive to be said, but there's certainly more fluff than truth.

It's like being in an abusive relationship

Pros

Full bar, cool coworkers, flexible hours (for the most part).

Cons

I didn't realize just how bad this environment was until after I had been out for a month or so. The only way I can accurately describe it is like being in an emotionally abusive relationship. Yes, there's fun...but the employees pay for that fun. The owner/"Executive Creative Director" is an eternal frat boy. He's all over the place and regularly changes directions on a whim. Management is constantly scheming against each other and their respective employees. They hire young, hungry individuals but have zero clue how to motivate or manage millennials. The scheming pushes more senior employees to act in the same manner which trickles down from there. Everyone is out for themselves "in the name of the client". It creates a horrific environment to be apart of. The worst part is that, after many years, you start to think this type of unprofessional behavior is normal.
