Pros

401K and vision, dental, life insurance.

Cons

The kool-aid presented at orientation paints a great picture, but it stops there. It’s telling how they claim to be fast paced environment yet processes and projects take months in execution if not completely abandoned or ignored. If they mean fast paced in the sense of being disorganized, understaffed, stressed out and unappreciative, then yes, it is fast paced. Your humanity and imagination will be diminished with leaderships expectations of spinning wool into gold with the little resources and training provided. Gatekeeping and favoritism cultures thrive here. "We are all owners" is one of the perks. It’s interesting how you are constantly reminded that you are an owner of the company and then get unrealistic metrics put upon you causing everyone to scramble to fix the poor money-hemorrhaging decisions made by leadership to save face with "the Board". Any sense of autonomy is nonexistent in these micromanaged sweatshop conditions because “the Board” has their foot on leaderships neck and leadership has no problem throwing you (the owners) off the ship. No real growth opportunities. Any growth seen was lateral moves. Don't count on advancing here. Pay is below market value. "We're in it together" until you are seen as disposable.

We’d say we hear your feedback, but not sure if you’d believe us. :) Nevertheless, we appreciate you sharing your perspective. The truth is that we promoted 20 team members last year alone, so it stands to reason that there are a lot of team members who thrive when given the opportunity to own the work (this is much more than a “perk” - it’s part of the fabric of our DNA at Relay). We certainly wish you the best of luck.

Pros

Really nice office with catered lunches Generally enjoyable people to work with Work life balance

Cons

-Executive culture is toxic and non-inclusive. Expect to be talked down to as if you are a child. Had an executive tell the whole sales team on a call that we better not be on our phones or emails because she is watching who doesn’t pay attention. -New products lack development and resources. Imagine selling finance technology with next to no integrations into accounting and operations systems. Expect to be saying it’s on the roadmap on every single call. -Non strategic hiring with very high turnover and frequent layoffs. Throw new hires at the wall and see who sticks.

Pros

Great employees in every department. Unlimited PTO is great but be prepared to explain why you are taking time off.

Cons

Getting told you are an owner before and after layoffs gets old. This company sounded great with a solid comp plan, growth opportunities, and 100% remote. All false. People ops does do their best to keep everyone engaged and having fun but if you have a bigger issue, it’s best to just smile and keep your head down. If your feedback isn’t how great the company is, they don’t want to hear it. One of the mottos is “own the work” and it felt like like this in the beginning but now you are so micromanaged that you feel even less like an “owner”.

We appreciate your feedback. It’s no secret that Relay has been Inventing the Future amidst an incredibly challenging economic backdrop, but we’d suggest that the Own the Work mentality is all the more important in that frame. Our most successful team members continue to be the ones who connect the dots across organizational goals and are accountable and adaptable as we solve big problems. We wish you the best.
