Pros

- some friendly coworkers from other departments - easy drive/commute - nice office - despite terrible salary, good h&d/RRSP benefits though

Cons

- low pay, it's lower than market - they take advantage of your work, overtime, over use you, especially if you're a new grad - no growth or development - very clique-like - all talk, no action - leadership was not very supportive - don't really uphold their values

Pros

Working with seniors is life changing. Gives you new perspectives on everything in life and shows you what matters most. And it is the sole purpose in life is to change other ppl and vulnerable ppls lives so that they can live the remaining years comfortable. You gain a huge extended family if you care for seniors in any manner.

Cons

This company did not care for anyone except for the dollar signs in their bank account. It has taken me years to write this review simply because its shameful and humiliating the things that this company and its representing managers would put a person through. During covid, things went downhill in this company excessively. Their communication to residents and family was nothing more then a smoke shield. Everything that could and did go wrong was used against the ppl that were holding their buisness up. Working excessive and long unreasonable amounts of hours with no compensation or time off in lieu was enough to break a person. No additional resources provided other then hospital dishes and paperplates. After months of working everyday for alot of extra hours, it wears on a person. The emphasis was stated that they cared about their employees mental health during that time but they proved it didnt. When i discussed my struggles with the constant abuse and attacks from residents and their families during covid lockdowns in addition to burnout, i was treated like a problem. Being blamed for so many unhappy ppl being locked down… I was told that i was not positive enough and put on a performance management program for things that “might happen” with my not wanting or being able to continue on such extended and long shifts, as they thought i may go rogue expressing my struggling. There was no understanding, no accomodations, no empathy, and certainly no resources to help. They have what they call EAP for employees who have struggles with anything but after reaching out to them, was told that they couldnt help. After continuous and ongoing performance reviews and not being able to prove i had done anything wrong, they decided at the end of covid and after giving them everything i had during it, they decided to “make a buisness decision” to let me go “for no reason” other then they didnt see me in their future. This company doesnt think twice but to throw its employees to the wolves if you cant maintain working like a robot. You are not allowed to be tired, or burned out or suffer mental health issues from the constant abuses of angry residents and their families for things that are out of your control. They dont treat their employees like humans so if thats what you are, stay away from here cuz you are just another number and another dollar. They dont think twice to cross human rights violation lines or break labour standards if it benefits them. I worked for them for almost 14 yrs. Wasted my life giving my all to a company who discarded me like yesterdays trash when i was going through the worst time in history. Worst imaginable place to ever be. Its why turnaround for staffing is so high. You will recieve no support if you cant make the impossible happen. Good luck!
