Pros
The company offers great projects and opportunities for high-level design challenges. Favorable relationships with upper management allows for young designers to be on these projects, fostering professional growth and development.
Cons
During my time at the firm, I encountered challenges stemming from a lack of empathy and effective communication. There seemed to be a strong emphasis on ego and financial motives, which unfortunately fostered an environment of backstabbing and blame-shifting, making it difficult for me to establish trust among colleagues. The day I started, my arrival seemed to have been forgotten, leaving me without a desk or assigned tasks for a week. Throughout my tenure, I noticed a pattern of newer employees with less experience being prioritized for the type of work and opportunities I had requested and earned. Despite expressing my concerns to upper management about feeling burnt out and unhappy with the work I continued to get, I received only superficial praise and was encouraged to take time off. While on PTO, I was informed via email of the termination of my employment, with no opportunity for a discussion or explanation. This abrupt end to my three-year tenure without any severance or eligibility for unemployment benefits was disheartening. In retrospect, I acknowledge my own responsibility in not recognizing sooner that my contributions were undervalued within the organization. My intention in sharing this experience is to shed light on the need for a more empathetic and transparent work environment, where employees feel valued and communication is prioritized. I hope my feedback serves as a catalyst for positive change within the company.
