Pros

-Free fruit. - Free on site car parking. - Close to the railway station if you commute. - They were open to salary negotiation after offering the role, going above the advertised band. - Mid level managers were approachable and always happy to listen (though completely unable to react to feedback due to their own managers). - After probation, working hours can be adjusted to suit your life.

Cons

- Ridiculously high staff turnover. I quit after 6 months, and was the 12th employee to leave during my time there. For perspective, there were 36 members of staff at the time of my departure. - The condescending attitude of many (not all) long term employees has created a them vs us split. A simple example of this attitude was when I saw an issue raised highlighting the software doesn't prevent duplicate names of an item and the "answer" was "The solution to this is simple. Don't do it". - The regard the probationary period is held in. The number of times I heard sentences of "when you pass your probationary" or "after 6 months...". It can be seen as very excluding. Everywhere I've worked has this as a formality in case of a poor employee. Roscom have this to easily fire an employee and only pay a weeks notice. - One ex-colleague was put back on probation after almost a year of employment. They were promptly then fired. During their paternity leave. By letter. - One ex colleague was was fired/"failed" probation at the end of the 6 months. While he was on annual leave. By letter. - The culture is definitely one where it's expected staff do more work shackled to their desk. Having a break is discouraged resulting in quick burnout. - Despite all work being possible by VPN and the product itself being related to networking, there are no work from home possibilities. - During training, I was told to not give any answers such as "Hi X, Sorry to hear of your issue. We looked into this and found XYZ wasn't configured. We have now fixed this for you." but instead to just say "Fixed.". For clarity, I was hired to fulfil a customer service role. - The questionable ethics of the company. I was asked to maintain a document which contained the equipment customers had purchased to establish a total value of the product. However, there is no price list for any of the products; they charge whatever they can get away with. Similarly, despite knowing a customer wasn't in possession of 3 products, the customer was still charged as if they did have them. The customer wasn't aware the products weren't installed. - Having a desk close to the senior managements office results in you being exposed to regular profanity and patronising comments regarding customers.

Pros

The work itself is interesting, it's busy and challenging and the product is great. There is so much scope for bigger and better things and progression should be fast. Should be being the key words!

Cons

Unfortunately this company is stunted by management, a senior manager in particular who clearly is out of their depth and slowly sinking the company. There is very little employee recognition or support and the attitude from management is that all employees should just be grateful to work there and must prove themselves. It's very one sided! If it's decided your face no longer fits then you won't be there much longer, which seems to be quite a common occurrence. Huge staff turnover that doesn't appear to be a concern. There is no real organisation and during my time there went through several and restructures and redundancies which they try to promote as a good thing however it very rarely was and obviously had a very negative impact of the staff. Sadly the negatives greatly outweigh the positives here.

Pros

There aren't any, if I could have rated no stars I would have. In the end, it was truly horrific and stressful experience working at Roscom.

Cons

Since the current CEO took over this business, it appears to have gone down hill rapidly. You just have to look at the declining staff and customer numbers. Companies House is also an interesting read. Some words I've heard being used to describe the top level managers are: arrogant, delusional, self absorbed, ignorant, unprofessional, toxic, clueless, waste of space, two faced, egotistical, severe lack of people skills..... The list goes on. They are nice to your face (sometimes) but then bad mouth you behind your back. Or if you're really not in flavour that day, they'll say it to your face in the open plan office. It's no wonder in the region of 20 people got out whilst they could and found better jobs in the last 12 months or so - where are their wages going? It certainly doesn't appear to be going back into the products, business or replacing the staff who have left. About 2-3 years ago there were about 80 members of staff. Now? Well there can't be many more than about 40 left. Well, not for much longer as it seems a number of the people left are actively seeking other employment. The services provided aren't as good as they could or should be with analysts creating reports they don't understand or that are wrong (not their fault, the training is virtually nonexistent in Roscom). The products, services and reports could be really good, it's a shame there appears to be little investment in the enhancement of them and the remaining staff. Perhaps you actually need to make Roscom the 'number one' provider rather than just talk about it, I'm sure it could happen with some management changes, proper staff training and investment. Previous employees are bad mouthed and blamed for 'rubbish contracts' or 'poor set up of projects'. There is simply no accountability or direction from the top level managers for this business and the people in it. It always seems to be someone else's fault, which generally seems to be people that have left the business who incidentally are unable to stick up for themselves. There must have been at least 4 restructures in the last 12 months or so and that's just in the 'professional' services department, always causing upheaval and unsettled feelings amongst the staff. No one knows their roles or responsibilities, new titles are dreamt up to fit in with that particular restructure which often make no sense whatsoever. Staff have no idea about their targets meaning that come annual review time, it's difficult to prove you've hit your targets. Large amounts of people have been made redundant for no apparent reason at all. Staff have had their hours reduced even though previous (lucky) employees have left and never been replaced. Here are some other issues with this business: - Cringeworthy and unprofessional communications by one of the top level managers in particular. - No qualified HR staff. - Shockingly bad staff contracts. - Poor, below industry standard wages. - Impossible 'achieve 100% in xxx' targets. - Lack of coordination and communication. - Lack of a proper business strategy. - Some lack of morals and doing what's right. - Varying degrees of bullying. - Inappropriate comments on a regular basis. - Very low staff morale. - Zero career development. - No employee recognition. - Too many promises that never come to fruition. - Protection of difficult and rude 'long serving' employees rather than proper people management. - Complete disregard for formal matters/HR practices. - High attrition rates. - Zero respect for employees and their welfare. - No one-2-one meetings/development plans. - Top level managers seem to take way too many holidays rather than focusing on trying to salvage the business.
