Pros

Most people were nice, they pay fairly well

Cons

My manager let me go after a month due to "unsatisfactory job performance". It takes at least 2 months for an employee to get the hang of a job in the best of times, these are not the best of times. Have some compassion and understanding. Two weeks in she had critiques on my performance even though she told me the first few weeks were for "onboarding" I was hired by someone who did not end up being my manager, I was interviewed extensively (6 people over 3 months) and they all thought I'd be a good fit, my ultimate manager was not among those people Expectations were absurd and nitpicky, if you don't have a consulting background, look elsewhere. The pay might be attractive but I had a nightmare experience and left a consistent job to join.

Good people - terrible leadership & culture

Pros

Flexibility (unlimited PTO, remote/hybrid), autonomy over work / schedule, interesting/energetic people (excluding exec-level), strong brand, company is growing, decent compensation

Cons

Benefits are lacking for a small company (e.g., healthcare costs & coverage, maternity/paternity leave). Executive leadership is young/inexperienced and are constantly changing their minds/direction but have seriously deep-seeded issues. From layoffs to firing, they seek a specific type of person & performance which is terrible for diversity - they make constant org changes to accommodate their lives and justify as if it's a business decision. Culture is toxic like 'if you're not with us, you're against us' (and subsequently fired or forced out which have seen happen more times than necessary over the past year). Current leadership team is not equipped to growing the company the way it needs to be. Don't be fooled by inflated compensation - it's not worth the risk. Don't be fooled - just join a different company with growth ambitions and leaders that know what they're doing / care about their people. The only thing leaders at Ruggable care about is their own egos & agendas and proving that they're important vs. their teams being happy & cared for.

House of cards; avoid at all costs

Pros

- High degree of autonomy - Broad scope of responsibility and exposure - Industry-leading brand and product - Flexible working hours and PTO

Cons

- 25th percentile cash compensation (outside of upper management) and paltry raises - Year-end bonuses routinely disappoint and get paid on a significant delay - Equity is overvalued, distributed in very small amounts, and vests on a long schedule - Promotions now given only every 3-5 years -- laughable at a "startup" - Forced RTO (3 days/week) to offices that are devoid of culture - Top-heavy organization led by overpaid, inexperienced senior leaders - Multiple rounds of botched layoffs and frequent no-warning terminations - Company struggles to meet even conservative budget targets - Decision-making is opaque and poorly communicated - Greedy and incapable senior leaders, including: ---> President: still hasn't been designated CEO after >1 year leading the company ---> COO: came in with only 2 years of work experience ---> Head of Product: has no business as anything other than a plant manager ---> VC investor: threatens to sue anything that moves ---> PE investor: demands unrealistic growth without any productive guidance
