Pros

-good locations? -decent benefits, though they kept changing so who even knows anymore Some talented people who do actually care, and do what they can with what they are given. Unfortunately that is doesn't pay off for them and becomes an exercise in futility.

Cons

-poor pay -long hours -most of the long term staff are just waiting for opportunity to jump ship Ever since Rob Sim stepped down the company has slowly cared less and less about it's employees, or it's clients. They brought in new corporate types to try and grow the company quick and cheap, then package it up for sale. That failed and now they're just trying to trim the fat and become as cheap and profitable as possible, no matter what damage they do to the lives of their employees, or the service to their customers.

Toxic Workplace

Pros

Good place to gain knowledge of film and television lighting and grip equipment. Holiday break.

Cons

Promotion of sociopaths that undermine the value of a hardworking warehouse team. Management that has constantly changing demands, that is not open to employee feedback, employee questions, and some can buck their highly touted process while others are excoriated for it. Unequal disciplinary mechanism that is inconsistent, does not take into account circumstance i.e. disability/mental health, and is deployed to correct workplace issues in an unequal fashion that factors in favoritism over actual investigation that considers ethics. Regular teasing, bullying, and harassment props things mentioned. Low pay. Company will not issue references, as either a punishment or retention tactic or a management policy out of the 1980s. I could not get a straight answer on why they practice this. A structure that fragments like workers into different departments that ultimately wind up in competition rather than collaboration. This quality ties in to the favouritism mentioned before, and fosters a culture of backstabbing, that leads to paranoia, mistrust, and hand-wringing explanations as to why the existence if a horrible culture persists. There are many more bad things about this company, however, I think the qualities mentioned, give a good insight into how all of these negative attributes are interelated, and reflect a management culture that does not care about their frontline workers.

Pros

People are very nice and supportive. No politics, just a down-to-earth work environment with good pay and perks. I would highly recommend this company to someone looking to break away from the large, cold corporate environment which is so common in the Toronto job market.

Cons

The company is just getting into Canadian market and is still very small (less than than a dozen employees) but they intend to grow their business in the country and expect to hire many more people. There's very little information out there, they're a subsidiary of The Argus Group, an insurance company based out of Bermuda. Somers Isle Management (SIMs) is their Canadian branch.

Pros

The health benefits were good

Cons

Parental leave within your 3 months does not exist. Expect to get fired for taking a few days off work if you really need it. An employee rarely came to the office and often became intoxicated in the parking lot just out of view of the camera. The dog that was there barked and growled at people it did not know. Negative, declining employee feedback and reviews from the internal polls for the previous two years, nothing is done to correct company behaviour. Very little training, started training 1 month after I started Need to work late at home with no compensation - always on the phone and email. The pay was low

A Bitter Sweet Experience

Pros

- Great People, Like Family. - Good Flexibility. - Advancement opportunities (when you can get them) - Benefits

Cons

- Low Pay - Bullying from some staff, upper managment, and HR. - Micromanagement - Promotions without pay increase - More job duties added consistantly without compensation Since change in ownership and management, many employees do not feel valued. Productivity is at a low, people are tired and underpaid, and not happy. There had been an increase in clients and projects coming through the door, which contribute to more work load. The company is making more money, but the employees aren't seeing that benefit in their checks. Living expenses are on the rise in Los Angeles. People are began leaving to look for other opprotunities.
