Pros

Subsidized employee dining facilities 1) Discounted inner-city car parking for employees 2) End of year food vouchers 3) Discounted stays at SkyCity hotels 4) Free entry to Sky Tower 5) Variety of low skilled jobs

Cons

1) Bullying, cronyism, gaslighting, blame culture, scapegoating and nepotism were prevalent especially in the Information Technology (IT) department. There were plenty of highly paid independent IT contractors who ruined the work environment and cared little about making any meaningful improvements. 2) I meet some incompetent and toxic people in full-time permanent managerial roles in IT and People & Culture department. Some of supervisors and managers in low skilled jobs openly made racist comments and jokes. 3) It was an absolute nightmare experience working in their IT department. I encountered some unethical practices such as falsifying reports which made me uncomfortable working there. 4) The customers visiting the casino might notice glitz and glamour of the place but what these customers cannot see but are visible only to employees are the ugly run-down back offices with foul smells and dirty toilets which includes their corporate office in the Federal Street. 5) A factory-like work environment wherein employees are poorly paid. The unions frequently have strikes demanding better wages and a work environment. 6) Due to the fact this company runs 24/7 365 days a year, the employees are expected to work in different shifts throughout the year that will have a heavy toll on employees' health and their families in the long run. 7) Most of the revenue and profit generated by SkyCity is from its casino operations. The people mostly from low socio-economic background have been financially and emotionally ruined due to gambling addiction. These poor souls visit the casino even in the middle of the night to feed their addiction by playing a variety of games and losing their money and future. Some people might not prefer to work in this company due to religious or ethical reasons.

Pros

Work Mates are the best at Skycity!

Cons

Bit of a gossip mill, pay was crap for the amount of work you do, and Duty Managers in particular do way to much for what they get paid. Shift work sucks when they keep switching you from early mornings to late nights on a monthly or weekly basis - messes with your life & body clock!

Pros

Food for $2.50 per visit

Cons

• Claims to follow Agile, but priorities and decisions change constantly • Heavy micromanagement and poor decision-making from management • Very noisy work environment, difficult to focus • Remote contractor dev teams used heavily with little clarity for QA • Testers expected to handle test plans, execution, reporting, and coordination without proper requirements • BAs doing development changes and testing/reporting work themselves • Weak QA processes and poor PI/release planning • HyperCare periods drag on for months • Constant context switching and shifting priorities for QA • Frequent restructures and no clear career growth path, especially for new hires If you genuinely want to learn and grow in a mature engineering culture, this may not be the right place.
