Pros

This job was a great starting place for me and my nursing career. I learned many skills while in nursing school that I would have not been exposed to other wise as a student nurse.

Cons

Out of touch management including DOO and CEO. When I tried to explain to management that they need to be more involved, I was reprimanded and almost threatened (as I was leaving to start my career as a nurse). The CEO actually said to me 'you don't want to be leaving on a bad note now do we...' rather than even taking a moment to reflect on what I said. And just for context, I had done so much for this organization (brought SEVERAL nursing students to work as PSWs and later on as RNs, my boyfriend who is a photographer did photo shoots for the clients for free, etc you get the point). It is a toxic work environment. There is one location in particular that is especially toxic and most people will know what location I am talking about.... I would cry every time I was sent to this location because the clique of nurses at this home were so rude. I knew the team was talking about me behind my back and just being very fake at work. It made a very uncomfortable working environment.

Pros

The clients/kids and some great colleagues

Cons

* Senior leadership/CEO are dismissive or don't offer real support - they just redirect you/gaslight you * New staff are trained by other new staff * No supervisor oversight/presence * Short-staffing * Constant stress of dealing with sick calls and deadlines * Working with incompetent staff (who are constantly on their phones or sitting around) which put a heavy burden on the other staff - there are no consequences or oversight to manage these staff on shift * Extra assigned responsibilities added with no extra pay - I was so overwhelmed by the work that I quit

Pros

-the clients -the frontline staff -client ratio -fair pay for work -supportive and paid training -great place for anyone looking to gain experience

Cons

-if you call in sick you have to find someone to cover your shift yourself -upper management has asks you to do unrealistic tasks -they don’t take travel distance into consideration and will send you all over the city -if someone calls in sick you could end up having to work 24 hours straight -they have PSW performing nursing tasks to save money
