Pros

cool teammates on the sales team. everyone was welcoming and it was a good environment to learn/grow if you're new to a closing role

Cons

where to start... all the AEs are severely underpaid. total comp is well below industry standards across the nation, and is 40% less than competitors (drata, vanta). quota is extremely high, and absolutely unattainable (around a 5% attainment rate across the entire team). to add insult to injury, leadership has priced the platform at a premium. keep in mind there is nothing special about this product compared to the competitors in the space - everyone does the same thing and every customer will get their certifications at the end of the day. for some reason, leadership has the notion that they're able to demand a 60% premium over every single competitor in the market. needless to say, this does not help with quota attainment at all, and even if you do get lucky to close a single deal in a month, you have to significantly discount the deal. commission rates are terrible as well, so you're essentially living off your base, which is nothing to begin with. leadership does not seem to understand that without a legitimate PRODUCT differentiator, you cannot ask someone to spend significantly more money for the same services. to make matters worse, the supporting cast is nearly non existent: SDRs don't get meetings, marketing cut back spending (which was maybe 90% of sourced deals), and leadership does not budge on quota/product pricing/commission rates. you're on an island here, stay away

Pros

Friendly colleagues and fully remote. Management.

Cons

Unreasonable role expectations for an environment that has zero stability. CEO is noticeably missing a sense of EQ and treats employees like pawns. He had the entire sales dept. fly to Denver to participate in a 3-day long “bootcamp”, only to terminate 50% of them 3 weeks later. Those employees were *finally* trained and then immediately fired. They were given a heads up with only 15 days left to make a quota that no one has made in 4 months… It feels very mismanaged at the expense of the employees’ lives/well-being. There’s a lot of random firing throughout the entire organization. Every weekly meeting someone from C-Suite or management is being let go. Never an explanation. Things like onboarding, training, sales operations, product, marketing, brand… all a dumpster fire. I don’t know if it’s typical start-up growing pains or if it’s because this company is nose down with no control-- either way, it’s bad.

Pros

Unlimited PTO, WFH, and kind peers

Cons

The sales org is highly dysfunctional and underdeveloped at Secureframe. The CEO and founder is also the acting VP of Sales. This CEO is inexperienced when running a sales organization and is inhibiting the sales team as a whole. Only around 5% of the AEs are hitting their quota. CEO recently held a required, very intensive, in-person training session the 2nd to last week of a meaningful quarter for all sales staff. Two weeks after this training he laid off multiple AEs due to poor performance, many of whom would have had a greater chance at hitting their number if they hadn't had to attend the sales training. During my time at Secureframe the morale within the sales org was very low with a high turnover rate amongst AEs. This was mainly due to unobtainable quotas, poor and inexperienced leadership, along with broken + non-existent processes. CEO is in over their head when it comes to running a successful organization. If you're interested in working within this space, Drata and Vanta are superior choices. Both companies have a better product, offer more compensation, and actually set their AEs up for success.
