After the buyout, the top and bottom lines were squeezed.
The company offered less and cost the customers more.
Since then, I have been very fortunate to work for a number of successful up-and-coming companies that have gone public.
Unfortunately working at Serato was not one of them.
I think this company once was the bread and butter of the tech industry in New Zealand, but since then has fallen to the wayside as the owners have sold a controlling stake in the company.
As a software engineer, and seeing how middle management ran this company, working here felt like a sinking ship.
It had the same dismal dread as the company I worked at at the start of my career.
If I were still at this company, I'd be cleaning off the resume, because it would be completely unsurprising if things get worse.
