Pros

The work is meaningful. You get to support children and families, which gives the job real purpose. The position allows you to use your experience, problem-solving, and people skills in a way that matters. You’ve had opportunities to show leadership, initiative, and commitment. The role has helped show your resilience, dedication, and ability to handle a lot under pressure. There is satisfaction in knowing you step in and help keep things running when others may not. The most rewarding part of working for Shine is serving children and families. Unfortunately, that is overshadowed by poor communication, inconsistent leadership support, and lack of follow-through. Staff are often left to carry more than their actual role requires, and concerns do not always feel heard or addressed. The work is meaningful, but the stress, lack of support, and feeling of being undervalued make it hard to recommend as an employer.

Cons

Leadership support is inconsistent. Communication is often unclear, delayed, or creates more stress instead of solving problems. Employees can end up carrying responsibilities that should not be theirs. Follow-through is lacking, which leaves staff picking up the slack. Concerns do not always feel heard or taken seriously. The workload can become overwhelming because expectations are high but support is low. Morale suffers when leadership is disconnected from what staff are actually dealing with. It can leave you feeling overworked, undervalued, and emotionally drained. If you care about children and families, the mission will keep you going. If you expect strong leadership, clear communication, and real support, you may be disappointed. Too much falls on the employees who are already giving the most, and that quickly leads to burnout.

Pros

Excellent Benefits and time off.

Cons

Poor leadership and support and onboarding. You will be used as a pawn when upper management fails in their leadership. There were limitations on what days you could take off. You cannot use your PTO freely.
