Pros

Peers are generally good people

Cons

Similarweb routinely posts fake Glassdoor reviews to escape a 2* rating - can you imagine how bad things are for them to get to this point? A poorly managed company with a broken culture and toxic leadership. The product is interesting at a surface level but fails to produce value relative to its premium price, with many cheaper alternatives in the market. Depending on the region you work in, the quality of the product is poor. Compensation is below average. If you are interviewing for a GTM role, run as fast as you can—your earnings and growth potential will be meager. To go into more detail: the moment you step into the office, you will notice that your peers—mostly lovely and capable—live in fear and misery. Over the course of my tenure, people were leaving the company on a monthly basis, and I worked in a regional office with ~60 employees total. That’s crazy churn. The company sets goals that are not grounded in the reality of the market or the quality of the product. Every quarter at Similarweb is “slow.” While managers have the luxury of tweaking their commit and celebrating whatever number they end up with by the end of the quarter, individual contributors are held fully accountable for their unrealistic targets. The commission structure is set to reward only top performers (>80% annual quota attainment), who—even globally—you can count on one hand. Most people won’t see any real earnings on their hard-won deals. As a result, people leave either out of frustration or because they are let go for “poor” performance. If you accept the job offer, you will be faced with a choice: leave after a few months and risk damaging your CV, or grind your teeth in stress and despair to pass the one-year mark. You’ve been warned.
