Human Commission Check

Pros

* The sales-driven culture promotes a sink-or-swim attitude. If you're someone who responds well to pressure (real or perceived), you'll succeed in this environment. It's a real grind, but that "hustle mentality" can come in handy. * The office has good snacks and the team frequently has fun out-of-work outings & events. * The job requires you familiarize yourself with the NYC tech ecosystem. It's great to have that breadth of knowledge.

Cons

* It's clear the co-founders probably never managed people before starting their business. They lead with fear tactics, rumors, and the knowledge that you're only as valuable as your last commission. A few people have left the company voluntarily, but most are fired before they can. * Because the company is run by two people, they run the company with the mindset that every dollar that comes in belongs to them, not the business. Thus, every raise or commission is coming out of their personal pockets. *The agency positions itself like it's new, transparent, different. In reality, it's not that nuanced-- just a better dressed version of a tired model of treating people like commission checks. *The longer you stay here, the more likely you'll believe that it's okay to compete against your co-workers and the only successful negotiation is one where you alone have won. *SingleSprout talks a lot about culture fit. That's basically coded language for either agreeing with the co-founders or not. And if not, its a matter of time before they decide your independent thought is "bringing down morale". *The founders ask each employee--regularly--"do you want to be here" whenever they feel like an employee's loyalty is waning. It's a not-so-subtle reminder that you are replaceable. And for the record, the answer is No.

Pros

You have the ability to quickly build a network of talent and connections within the NYC startup space You can learn the basics about recruiting Free Lunch once a week Cool office

Cons

Where to begin, SingleSprout is in the business of pitching companies to candidates and as such they've become incredibly good at selling a vision for their own company that just doesn't exist. The volume of turnover is incredible and there are only a handful of employees who have been with the company for more than a year. Do a quick search on Linkedin and you will find that the number of former employees far surpasses the number of people currently employed. Your work serves no purpose other than lining the pockets of the founders who create a borderline unhealthy working environment by constantly trying to pit employees against each other and creating a culture of fear. They create a fantasy that this is a dream job and if you don't work hard enough theres a line of people out the door who will take your spot. The only thing that matters is how much money you bring into the company and they shame people who are not willing to give up your days, nights, and weekends. In the past whenever negative reviews have popped up on this site there is a suspicous suddent burst of positive feedback that can only be attributed to certain higher ups terrified at the word getting out about how miserable of an environment this place is. Don't just take my word for it, if you are considering a job at SingleSprout do your research. Reach out to former employees and get the real story

Pros

-You'll find out quick if recruiting is right for you -If you are doing well you will be rewarded

Cons

-SingleSprout is a classic boiler room sales team pretending to be a tech first startup. -No training you are left to figure things out on your own -No opportunity for growth - it's just another agency recruiting firm -deceptive compensation tactics - David and Natan hype the potential to make big money but they are taking $2 out of our pocket for every $1 you bring into the company -Very cliquey, if you are not an early employee or super successful they don't care about you -crazy high turnover - No one stays for long
