Pros

- Work from home/anywhere but company encourages co-working by paying for meals/drinks if you co-work at coffee shops, and weekly team dinners/lunches - Fun coworkers, lots of room to get to know each other - High expectations for growth, integrity, and initiative - Leadership is open to feedback and implements quickly - Flexible vacation/sick policy as long as you're being fair to the team (two weeks off (paid) every summer)! - Transparency is big at Skillify and team has monthly company meetings to discuss high level objectives, progress, and action steps

Cons

- Can be hard to sync schedules with other team members to co-work, especially during the school year - Program outreach = lots of driving (gas reimbursed by company) - Some people are looking for big tech company style perks, like fully stocked kitchens and gym memberships - our company is small and doing impactful work, and while it does its best to make sure the team feels appreciated, it is not for people who want the extra perks.

Great place to grow professionally

Pros

At my previous company, we talked a lot about the growth mindset but no one knew how to actually implement it properly. When I joined Skillify, I truly learned what it meant and how to develop a growth mindset not just within myself but across the team. I transitioned out of Skillify to pursue my Masters but it was a hard decision - I feel like I got 10 years of experience within a short amount of time. I still stay in touch with Shireen Jaffer who continues to mentor and support me through my professional journey. She built the company from nothing and despite its strong growth, she continues to improve every day and the company continues to value people above all else. Also, as long as you share the same mindset, Skillify will go above and beyond to make sure you're taken care of.

Cons

When I was at Skillify, we had an in-office culture. I know now it's become remote, but at that time, we worked at a co-working space and the daily commute was terrible as the location wasn't central to everyone. Plus, when coaching students, it was tough to do so at a co-working place with lack of privacy. I'm sure the team is happy to be remote now. Skillify is in Education, and works with students of all backgrounds and many of them share some very emotional stories with their coaches. While rewarding, it can be emotionally challenging if you are not experienced in this work.
