Glossy veneer hides a chronic problem
27 Feb 2023 - Anonymous Employee in London, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Excellent staff pension and very competitive benefits package. Great associate bonus, but business support roles are not given anywhere near as generous a bonus scheme. Premium clients and some world class lawyers. Strong facilities.
Cons
Lawyers are well paid, but those in support functions are well behind market rates. The business has been venting staff at an alarming rate for 12-18 months and this has caused a very high pressure and high stress environment for anyone at advisor level upwards in all support functions, from BD & Marketing to Facilities and even HR. Several examples of long term sickness absence for work-related stress, as well as departures to other companies for higher pay and (often) less work. Outwardly projects an inclusive culture but suffers from institutional diversity problems. Not very progressive versus other law firms when it comes to work life balance and agile working.
