Pros

Good colleagues and supportive teammates were the positive factor. However, its no longer sustainable knowing that other factors of employment continues to decline.

Cons

The company talks a lot about leveling frameworks, competitiveness, and salary progression, but my experience did not match that messaging. In operations, compensation, salary increases and promotion outcomes are below market expectations, and concerns around pay competitiveness seemed to remain unresolved for years. When management were asked about how this fits in the leveling salary benchmark, there wasnt any concrete answers. Salary reviews were often discussed as something that would be revisited in the next cycle, but in practice are ignored. Responsibilities and workload also continued to grow, without corresponding recognition or compensation that felt fair and even near industry standards. The company seemed willing and quick to invest in expensive organizational tooling, while fairness and competitiveness of employee pay felt like a lower priority. Overall, working in Smartly becomes demotivating.

Pros

Fast moving and collaborative organisation. People managers are usually very nice.

Cons

No longer a people first company, unfortunately. Back in 2020 this company used to be among the best in taking care of its employees. Since the last year the direction has changed. There are policies that allow the company to avoid paying fair bonuses (example, if they have half yearly bonuses and if you work for even 5 out of 6 months- your bonus will be 0). The company also denied me a referral bonus taking advantage of a policy grey area. Overall the HR now feels very unempatbetic and I got very lawyered answers in the past few months. Quite sad and shocking , given that this company used to be one of the best in terms of treating its people. At present I would honestly not recommend it. FYI: This review also encapsulates feedback from several employees I’ve heard from and not just my own.

We thank you for your feedback and appreciate your candor. We are happy to hear that you liked our dynamic environment with strong collaboration and people managers around. When it comes to the referral bonus program, we can assure you that all Smartlies are eligible for receiving a referral bonus, except for the Leadership Team, Extended Leadership Team, VPs, Talent Team, and Hiring Managers. We also had clear guidelines on the bonus plan for our Customer Success teams. To earn the bonus, an employee must be in active employment status on the day performance results are measured against. We are sorry you felt you were not treated right in your case. At Smartly.io, we put people first and work hard to listen and to support every employee to maximise their learning and growth. We will make sure to share your feedback with our team and will seek to learn from this. Thank you again for sharing your perspective and your contribution to Smartly.io’s success during your time here. We wish you all the best in your next journey!
