Pros

Great benefits, reasonable salary, annual company trip

Cons

Where to start... Years ago, I was beyond ecstatic to get an offer here. They cared about me, they cared about my family. I was given opportunities to grow my career, to be educated with skills that would start me down a path that would have kept me here forever. Then the co-founder left. The company floundered. Product Managers kill every idea the Support Heroes and customers have been begging for. Basic features customers have been begging for, for 7-8 years, still haven't been implemented. They hire VPs that don't know how to lead, that don't know the basics of the departments they are in charge of, and who have driven off dozens of long time employees. In some departments, sexual harassment is the norm, not the exception. We haven't released anything of consequence in years. They don't have a engineering roadmap. They don't fix bugs. They release broken 'minimum viable products', and then never improve them. When customer support complains, they're ignored and have more tools taken away from them, because progress. They said they wanted to focus on diversity, and now senior leadership is all male. Women leave this company in droves. Don't work here. It's bad now. If this company survives the next 5 years, I'd be shocked.

Pros

I've been with the company for many years, and have seen a steady decline in both culture, and pay. They aim to be within "65% of the average pay for your position" (or so), but they fail to include non-salary compensation (such as stock options, bonuses, and other forms of compensation) common at other tech companies). This results in a severe underpaying of talent, making it increasingly difficult to hire, and retain smart people. We are increasingly hiring 'second-tier' talent, which is good for 'maintenance mode', but not great for 'best in class tech'. In regards to the culture, this used to be a 'photography company run by photographers'. Unfortunately, 'middle management bloat' has firmly taken hold, and the two owners (Don, and Ben) are seemingly not passionate about the core product (despite talking a good game). If you enjoy California buzzword speak, then you'll love their speeches. They're mainly concerned (it would seem) about fostering a good external image (touting their "Evergreen" status, whatever that really means). We've seen a lot of good people go the past year. If you're in the 'inner circle', you probably love it - because you're listened to, even if your ideas are stagnant. If you love a fancy job title that has no real responsibility, this is also the place for you. If you want to develop within your career, built real wealth over time, and feel appreciated - look elsewhere.

Cons

There's an overwhelming sense that lack of profitability is starting to have a real impact on both pay, and benefits. Recently switched to a new healthcare plan (United Healthcare) which has substantially higher out of pocket costs than the previous plan (Blue Shield). Raises are anaemic, not keeping pace with inflation.

Pros

A lot of good people work here. Lifestyle company - lunch provided, cool HQ, unlimited time off and dog friendly. Everyone is very passionate about photography.

Cons

Most of management is lacking vision. Since co-founder Baldy left, the company has no clear direction. Very little diversity in management too - all straight, white men and one lone, white woman after every single POC was removed about a year ago (as well as a second woman and LGBT male). There is no strategy at all and most projects are either a "quick fix" to put out a fire or takes forever to complete because deadlines are non-existent. Morale is very low, which has led a lot of great employees to leave. Members of the People team (HR and recruiting) are some of the company's biggest gossips and nothing ever remains totally confidential. Its become a pretty toxic working environment.
