Alot of Hype

Pros

The work schedule is supposed to be 7 on/7 off; but we are constantly hounded, pressured, guilted into doing extra shifts because the Gulf region managers cannot seem to run the show and get the shifts filled. It's been more than 9 months since Sound acquired my previous group; at that time, management leader Dr Greg Johnson threatened that "our jobs would be filled with an abundant locum tenens staff" if we did not transition with the group. So, where are they? We are constantly understaffed, overworked. As far as I am concerned, this type of underhanded management threatens the safety of the patients, the reputation of the hospital, and puts the physicians at risk.

Cons

Management does not keep their word. You have been warned, but do your own due diligence. If you are a hospitalist, and consider working for Sound, you need to proceed cautiously; ask lots of questions, and talk to several physicians who work for them.

Pros

Difficult to say. Very difficult.

Cons

No autonomy. Poor leadership. No direction. No backing of physicians. Cheap. Poor salary. I cannot say enough. If Sound were to leave the only thing that would change is the efficiency would increase, costs go drastically down and the physicians would be happier with much more salary to boot. All wins. Why pay them their salary? For what?

Pros

None. Zero. Cant think of any.

Cons

These people are a total scam. Do your research. They were accused of committing Medicare Fraud, and settled for 14 million, and still I am not convinced that their billing is ethical. They have the most aggressive ruthless impolite billers that literally follow you everywhere. You are not safe anywhere except for possibly the bathroom. The culture here is only about the bottom line. Not patient care. They train the billers to stalk you on rounds, follow you around the halls, and they even go to the physician's lounge and interrupt your break perhaps as you have some food going down your throat to ask you if you can change things in your note to allow them to bill higher level of care. They assign 20+ patients per provider also because all they care about is maximal billing with the least number of providers.
