Pros

- Great vacation days, parental leave, and health + dental insurance - Health and wellness budget - Learning and development budget - Fun product - Nice office - Many people devoted to making the product and company better

Cons

- Toxic people in high positions who manage not to get fired - Diversity & inclusion was said to be a priority but no one has time for it - People complain about issues but no one fixes them - Understaffed, hence the previous two points - Stressful because it's the music business - Technical career advancement is fairly impossible unless you are willing to move to Berlin - Management proficiency varies heavily because training is scarce - Some very incompetent people managed to get hired somehow - NYC office environment was very bro-y and competitive - Salary could be better for the amount and quality of work expected

Pros

ICs and other engineering managers are supportive and kind to one another. Most likely due to bonding over poor management over on the engineering side.

Cons

SoundCloud used to be a wonderful place to work from what I hear. Unclear what caused a major chaos in the Engineering, Product, and Design organization. I can tell you what has not improved -- senior leadership. It is a disappointing group of individuals who focuses on the wrong things and prioritizes "getting it down" over their people. If you suck up to senior leadership and abide by their rules then you will succeed here. If not, then expect them to gaslight you and make you think that you are not doing your job well. The tech debt has accumulated so much over time that teams are stretched thin and nothing can get done. Product managers are incredibly demanding but so incompetent that they cannot get anything done without a help from others. Yet they blame the engineering teams from blocking them. Why not pick up a new skill and learn how to do basic things yourself? Why not try to learn how the internal systems work to ask better questions? If you want to be a people manager here, think twice about what you are getting yourself into because many EMs have left before hitting their one year anniversary.

Most chaotic company I ever worked for.

Pros

Super flexible working hours, free lunches twice a week, snacks, drinks

Cons

A cool company from outside, a nightmare to work for in the inside: - Too many unexperienced people working in middle/upper management. - Too many company politics. - Reactive approach instead of following a business strategy. - No real motivation to be there, everybody complains about the company and is looking for a new job at the moment. No cool vibe, lots of negativity around, no sense of community. - Only people friends with the upper management get promoted. - Very male-macho dominated company: be a man, talk a lot, sale yourself, and then you can get appreciated and promoted. Experience or skills are not valued.
