Pros

None that I can think of. Unless you want loads of time off with no pay of course.

Cons

Long working hours with no bonus or thanks, hours cut during quieter times (zero hour contract) so not a reliable job whatsoever. If you need to support a family or even just yourself then don't even bother filling the application form out, it wont be worth it. If you're a student looking for part-time, weekend hours then knock yourself out because that's all you'll get. All that the management seem to be interested in is taking as much money as possible and cutting hours to get their own bonuses and the staff that they employ get absolutely nothing out of it apart from a wage that barely covers a week of bills. It's a lose-lose situation in these pubs, if it's dead (in the winter normally) you get sent on two breaks and then sent home early, which is no good if it's especially around christmas time and you have more bills than usual to pay. And if it's busy, you get worked off your feet, have to stay two hours extra than what you probably should have done and might just get a pint for your troubles. The management only care about themselves. Worst company I have ever worked for.

Pros

The high staff turnover means it's easy to be promoted

Cons

Where to start... Unrealistic workload, targets and deadlines. More pressure than anyone could be reasonably be asked to handle. Managers incompetent or, at best, absent. Organisation from on high is laughable, I very often got the impression that no one knew what they were doing. Head office seemed to be a mythical group of people who didn't actually exist because you never heard anything from them. Zero hours contracts, minimum wage for really difficult jobs mean you can't hire anyone good, only the rejects from similar companies. Anyone any good just leaves so you're constantly in a state of inexperienced staff making up most of the team. The ridiculous wage targets mean it's impossible to raise anyone's wages as a reward for good performance. Seriously, I'm disappointed that I couldn't give 0 stars because they don't even deserve that. Just don't bother
