Pros

The people that I worked with were a fantastic team The company has a powerful suite of solutions for the healthcare sector They are currently investing to bring the solution up to where it needs to be and have invested heavily in development staff to make this happen Has long been in acquisition mode looking to expand its portfolio

Cons

Can't really speak for the US business, but in the international markets I would say that it was a half-hearted investment, the company has recently dramatically downsized it's international team, this was mostly due to a globally poor sales performance and the poor performance in international seemed to stem from the product not carrying the feature sets required to be successful outside of the US. The solution was outdated, lacked modern GUI and the price points for some of the solutions were not set realistically.

As you noted, we are growing quickly which presents its challenges, but we are committed to our vision for Spok Care Connect, our integrated communications platform for the healthcare sector. Pros

- Casual Dress Code - Learning environment, I still use skills that I learned at this job, great place to learn - Fellow Employees are awesome, I made lots of friends and still have those friends to this day

Cons

- Management, specifically Support, has no clue about the product or how it works constantly throws employees under the bus for the sake of the customer. - Support metrics are not review based, you could get a good review but still get reprimanded about the same call for something you did "wrong" even though the customer was happy. - On call is a joke, take a late night call and work on it all night? better show up at your scheduled time the next day. Oh, you didn't sleep? Oh well. Management doesn't care and is so far out of touch. - No communication between Dev, Support, and PSG, such a triangle of mismanagement. Dev creates a bad product, PSG installs it, by the time anyone finds out the customer already paid and support is on the hook to fix it all!

Pros

Pay is great, flexible hours, you meet some great clients

Cons

Churn is great, company has little to no loyalty to employees but expect 100% from you. Worked there 23 years, outstanding sales record, was dropped like a hot rock. It seems if you start making to much they replace you for a cheaper person. Let go of one employee was there as long as me, had a very sick child, huge medical bills, they showed no mercy.

Thank you for your feedback. At Spok, we are embracing the changes that come from innovation. Our customers have validated their needs for call center, alarm management, mass notification, and other software solutions. As our customers’ needs have changed, we have responded. Even our new Spok Mobile product integrates paging with mobile messaging. Further, we have refined and are committed to our vision of Spok Care Connect, the software platform that integrates communications for healthcare providers. As product requirements changed, so too did the skillsets required for success. Unfortunately, there are skilled people who are no longer with us. Some who have left had been top contributors in the past, and we are grateful for that and wish all who have left the best of luck in the future. However, we are transitioning to a new phase in our software sales development, changing the requirements to more closely align with our market strategy. This is what forward-thinking companies do to continue to grow and expand to meet the needs of the market. We have invested in new talent including sales leadership who brought deep experience in healthcare IT and already introduced training, new methods and tools designed to support the success of the entire sales team. Based on our employee survey results and our strong retention, our employees are embracing these changes necessary for the growth of our software business. Going forward, we’ll continue to address advances in technology while we pay attention to the bottom line so that we can continue to grow, evolve and meet the needs of our customers. We will also continue to work on improving the overall employee experience at Spok. Thank you for your years of service and your past contributions to the company.
