Lovely people, everything else... less so
Pros
The team were friendly, engaged, and would frequently arrange team drinks after work, or bonding opportunities. The office was always a nice environment, good music, and it was nice when everyone would get involved in team conversations My head of department was really lovely to me, I felt supported and cared for by him and extend my utmost gratitude towards him. Team breakfasts every week, team lunches during onboarding. Basically, the people are nice and friendly and it seems HR have done a great job at building relationships between everyone and ensuring everyone feels welcome and comfortable in the office and at home. It's clear the owners are passionate about the work they do and the opportunities they can provide. Sage benefits was decent, online GP, a couple discounts, and the assembly rewards system was a nice touch. Able to work from home 2 days a week, pretty relaxed, mostly stuck to a schedule but it was flexible if you needed it to be.
Cons
There was a promise of development but it seemed no one was able to stay in their positions long enough to actually progress. Salary was essentially the lowest they could make it without having to claim themselves as minimum-wage employers. This as well as having the minimum amount of holiday possible. Clearly, they don't understand the ebbs and flows of any business, half the team were cut all at once only a month and a bit after a sudden influx of new hires. A seemingly avoidable mistake if anyone had seen the trajectories of the business after hiring such a large amount of new people, something I spotted when looking at a sales chart in a company-wide meeting. They had about 3 different corners of the business it's clear they bit off more than they could chew As soon as they realised there were no internal positions I wanted they were happy to ship me off and make me redundant there and then, I had 1 week off of work and then heard nothing after. Got a list of businesses I could contact if I wanted and nothing else. I had to ask for my P45 months after it all and needed to forward my redundancy email to myself during the call I was in at the time as they started to deactivate my accounts as soon as I wasn't needed anymore. I did a lot of work for the company, including an entire course, that I never got to see in its final stages, maybe not a con of the business but it was disappointing that I had nothing to show for creating this by myself.
