Pros
- Extremely flexible hours (Recommend having secondary source of income as hours are scarce). - Friendly coworkers. - 40% discount on non restricted items (Majority of the desirable brands are restricted or a similar 35% discount constantly runs for the public). - Incentive prizes to be won. (Participation in games is mandatory. Prizes sometimes take months to arrive or never show at all in some cases). - 1% sales commission that can increase if monthly target is met. (Targets tend to be pushed beyond reasonable expectations for the area or during product shortages).
Cons
- Was terminated exactly one month following a formal complaint about being screamed at on the sales floor. After raising concerns about it to the appropriate staff, I was told during the meeting meant to address my concerns that "I would have fired you by now" with no reason given as to why. - There is a running habit of withholding disciplinary documents until it is convenient. (I.e: employee complains about misconduct and is suddenly presented with a week old warning about not signing a Christmas card--yes, really). - No opportunities for career growth despite claims about competitive wages. Was told during annual review that "raises aren't really a thing". - Loose enforcement of employee handbook standards and expectations. - Staff labelled as "ungrateful for an opportunity" after asking if compensation would be provided for work we were being asked to take home and do in our personal time. They wanted us to make educational workshops to host in-store to drive business.
