The training is horrendous. Virtually no effort to teach you anything. Your best bet to learn is to shadow someone, which isn’t bad, but considering my previous job went out of their way to let me know what there is to know, this method is typically unfulfilling and comes with a lot of pressure. At starpower, there are a million and one things to know, and I’ve only been exposed to 100 of them. And I’m not referring to sales techniques. I’m referring to annoying details and random yet PIVOTAL factoids that will bombard you on nearly every transaction, interaction, and walkthrough. All it takes is one missed piece of information as simple as a wrong button or a missing cable and a smooth sailing sale and installation can suddenly become a nightmare. I’m willing to accept my faults, but so many of my faults were from simply not knowing what I was doing was wrong. I once literally had to change a mount for a 65” TV because the mount I originally put on the order wasn’t big enough... even though the mount said it can do TV’s up to 65.” I wish I was kidding, even an installer agreed how misleading that is. You are your own boss here which starts out nice until you realize how much help you’ll need, but I since I was hired, I’m constantly thrown out of the nest before I learned to fly. I was told I have a long time to get to speed, but that hasn’t been true. I’ve addressed my issues multiple times to the higher ups and every time, nothing came of it, which was the worst part. Their success seems more important than my success.
