Pros

Historically this is a business which has been close to it's customers, focussed on quality products and strong relationships. At the core the clients/recipients of the products were the focus of the business and reward was seeing the improvements made to vulnerable peoples lives. Sadly the past tense is deliberate.

Cons

Too many to list. The current Managing Director cannot stabilise the organisation with a clear strategy. Having only been in post a few months the organisation has suffered multiple restructures and massive cuts in staff losing the most talented individuals who made the company what it was. Customers are equally unimpressed and are walking away en mass. The company culture has shifted from a team focussed proactive culture to a heavily hierarchical organisation where each and every task is dictated from the top with no reward for exceeding expectations. Employee's are reprimanded for the slightest mistake and see no reward or gratitude for efforts expended. The net result of this oppressive culture is employee's no longer being proactive but hiding and simply carrying out their assigned tasks. This is inclusive of the management team who are given their duties weekly and really have no impact from a managerial perspective. Threats over employment status are held as a means of control over the team and any voice of challenge, no matter how pleasantly positioned is met with retribution, usually removal from the organisation. I would struggle to find any positives for this organisation in rapid decline. Employee's and customers are dissatisfied and service and product quality are being sacrificed to try and revert the financial position.

Pros

Friendly colleagues Good if you want a career in the prosthetics industry

Cons

Wouldn't give me any tools, had to borrow other people's or use the ones I had which were inadequate. A list was made for me and others to get new tools which was handed to the manager who ordered tools for everyone except me. When I asked about getting some tools I was told that they couldn't get me any and some vague excuse. If I made a mistake I was notified but never allowed to do that task again Was supposed to have regular performance reviews but only had one in the 6 months I was there. The training provider for the apprenticeship went bust and no one knew what was going on When I was dismissed the manager held me back on a Friday and waited till everyone had left and told me not to come in on Monday as my contract was being terminated, when asked why I was told I was too slow, even though he kept telling me there was no rush to finish anything. I was given no notice at the time but one was sent in the post a month later saying I had been dismissed because of my attitude and performance, no detail about my attitude or performance was mentioned unfortunately. I later found out through contacting the apprenticeship service that I had been dismissed because the training provider went bust, which ment the company could no longer afford to keep me, so I had in fact been lied to about the reason I was dismissed
