Just Say Not to StyleCraft Homes

Pros

They have okay quarterly employee “events” like bowling, skeet shooting, etc. Beyond that, there's not really much else positive.

Cons

Can be a pretty hostile work environment. This claims to be a “second generation” family company. While technically that may be true, Richard Kuhn only ever worked for StyleCraft Homes as a contractor prior to inheriting the company upon his father’s untimely death. He avoids speaking to his mother at all costs. Infer what you will from THAT family dynamic. To say the leadership of StyleCraft Homes by Richard Kuhn and his group of directors is tone-deaf would probably be too kind. I personally witnessed numerous instances where Richard acted as a spoiled, petulant child. While he’s a very bright guy, he makes many company decisions based on spite or in an effort to get back at somebody. The people who he has decided to put in charge, with one very isolated exception, are poor managers of people, processes and everything else you might expect in the company that builds your next dream home.

Pick Another Place to Work. Any Place.

Pros

There are a lot of good people working at StyleCraft. And I hope that every single one of them gets out before Richard Kuhn and his team of “directors” ruin them.

Cons

There’s not one person outside of the group of “directors” who enjoys working at StyleCraft. You have a head of operations who spends a good portion of his time fixing the screw ups of a project manager (who also happens to be his brother-in-law) and another in charge of HR who was thrown out of her last job for serious ethical lapses (you can look her up on Google. Seriously.) She also spends a great deal of her time snooping in everyone else’s e-mail. The fact that these people are in positions of power at StyleCraft drastically undermines the credibility and effectiveness of Richard Kuhn to lead the company. Richard spends tons of money on consultants and supposed experts and little to no time even speaking to his own front-line employees. And, after all that, StyleCraft build homes which are dramatically overpriced for what you get and, depending on the neighborhood, falling down or lighting up the warranty phone lines soon after they’re built.

StyleCraft Homes is a second generation family-owned company, and from the beginning our goals have been to run an efficient and professional business while maintaining a family like culture among our employees and trade partners. It is disappointing to receive unfavorable feedback from a customer or employee, whether past or present, and I am personally available to discuss any concern a customer, employee or trade partner may have about the company, its business practices, or the homes that we build. While it is unfortunate that this individual had a difficult experience, the comments made are slanderous and personal about members of the StyleCraft team. I support our employees and always address concerns directly and appropriately as necessary. We appreciate the hard work of all the employees and trade partners who are committed to delivering an exceptional home buying experience for the people who choose to live in a StyleCraft Home. Sincerely, Richard Kuhn President and CEO

Great Workplace

Pros

Joined the company a few months ago. Overall, a great family environment where coworkers are familiar with each other's families. They have fun corporate events to try to bring the team together and share awards, acknowledgments and etc. Good onboarding system worked for companies prior where they throw you into the mix, but here they review company values and a quick tutorial of the systems, management touch base a few times to make sure you are comfortable.

Cons

If you are not hard working, this is not the place for you. It can be a light-hearted environment to work at however, they mean business. If you are expecting to get through your day with just average effort and workmanship than look elsewhere. They set high goals and believes in work hard play hard mentality.
