The Unethical Follies of a Faltering Company

Pros

Attractive WeWork offices. Your medical premiums are paid for, though that will be of little consolation when you get hit with enormous out of pocket costs. Hard work not required. Hard work treated with suspicion.

Cons

Firstly, this was the most wildly unprofessional experience of my life, from day one. The only reason I can think this company hasn't been crushed with allegations of misconduct is that everyone except their well-cushioned upper management are too poorly paid to be litigious. Secondly, you should know the company is currently going through widespread layoffs, all of which have been handled without dignity or sense, as if they drew the names out of a hat (for all we know, they did). No one knows what's going on from day to day and that's kind of standard here, only now it's gone from being merely annoying to full-blown chaos. Some are getting "promotions"--but that term means nothing at Survey. You will learn nothing of value in that field to boost your career down the road. Project coordinator, manager, marketing, your title doesn't matter, because everyone has only one job: to assign poorly paid visits to users that are constantly misled, underpaid, and often get their visits canceled because of a rocky relationship with their clients and the stores who don't see their business as legitimate, Finally, note that working here means dealing with misogyny, hostility, and unprofessional treatment on the daily. The fact that there is no HR and no recourse for harassment and misconduct is literally a running joke at Survey. In certain members of management, you may have to deal with a handful of breathtakingly incompetent creeps, most of whom have no experience or education in the fields they manage. The "office culture" at Survey is one of gossip, tone-deaf, inappropriate chatter, passive aggression, and total lack of transparency. The fact that so many ineffectual leaders remain employed in the wake of cuts is a gross injustice, but Survey is a not very diverse or professional or even sensible place; it is a place where connections with the CEO matter more than qualifications.
