Swip Systems Response
4yThank you for your response below. We hope you found a great place to land and flourish.
Thank you for the compliment on our clients. We agree, they are all great and wonderful people and we work really hard to make them happy and do a great job for them. Thanks for your help with this while you were here.
Even though location is not as important as it was in years past, we do agree we have a great location to work. There is a lot to do nearby and we don’t have to fight the St. Louis traffic. We do offer some pretty sweet remote and hybrid working arrangements as well.
Thanks for your feedback on your coworkers. I’m sure you learned a ton from them over the years you were here. They are an amazing group of professionals.
Thanks for the feedback on the planning process, and your involvement in the platform you helped select and implement. It’s been up and running since the time you helped implement it and still running strong. We continue to add platforms around it.
Thanks for your feedback on integrity, although we’re not sure where this is coming from. Our top core value is integrity, and our CEO is even an Eagle Scout, who preaches helping others and integrity everywhere.
Thanks for your comments on employee growth. We do expect our architects, developers, and project managers to be autonomous, create their own paths, and ask for help when they need it. This is what the folks here love most about their jobs!
Thanks for your comments on time tracking. We do use best practices listed for professional service / consulting companies. Although it is not required, we do allow our team to report down to the 5 minute increment as a matter of integrity. We absolutely don’t want a client being billed for anything but the time we spend on their projects.
Thanks for your advice…
We’re constantly advancing processes all throughout the organization and rely on the suggestions and involvement of our great team members to streamline and improve every day.
Our developers don’t QA their own code. Being an entire team of geeks, we’ve known for many years this approach just doesn’t work.
We are very respectful of our clients as business owners. We make sure we are staying with the budgets that they have available and realize that every piece of code does not need to be a shiny rocket ship. Some of our clients just need a functional application to run their businesses to assist them in fulfilling their mission of helping others.
As we mentioned above, we do expect our team to be professional, knowledgeable, autonomous technologists and share the load of creating incredible processes to work within. We surround ourselves with amazing, smart people so that as a group, we all get better every day.
For the reader and people looking for a really cool job, we thought we’d share some of our core values… A lot of them come from our moms’ pearls of wisdom. We love our moms! Over the years, they have given us some really sound advice to live by. We even post it on our website About Us page! https://www.swipsystems.com/about-us
I bet a lot of this will sound familiar to you…
“Take care of everyone around you.”
“Say please and thank you.”
“Doing the right thing means doing it even when no one else is watching.”
“If you want to be treated like an adult, act like an adult.”
“A good relationship doesn’t just happen; you have to work at it.”
“You don't have to be perfect, you just have to be better every day.”
“Always be the best version of you.”
“A penny saved is a penny earned.”
“Tell the truth. It’s easier to remember than the lie.”
“Trust is earned, not granted.”
“Don’t run with scissors!”
“If you want to be trusted, you have to be trustworthy.”
“You make your own luck.”
“Clean up your room!”
And our favorite...“Close the door! I’m not paying to heat the whole neighborhood!” (actually, that might have come from our dads! We love you too dads!)
And from our CEO… remember the Scout Law: “A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent!”
If this sounds like lessons you’ve learned along the way and things you like to live by, we’d love to meet and see if we’d make a good team!
