Turning it around

Pros

Recent changes in upper management are slowly making the work environment better. There is a hybrid work policy (there was no such policy with the previous CEO) -- employees are in the office two days per week.

Cons

Communication regarding companywide initiatives could be better.

Pros

You might have nice coworkers. That's about it

Cons

They spent millions of dollars to "rebrand" and redo the floor plan. The rebrand was basically a new font and new colors, and the floor plan was a loud and overly bright open floor plan. They claim to be "the most connected company" but their own IT is decades old. They do mass layoffs all the time. Huge swaths of people fired right before Christmas. And then the employees left have to do double and triple the work to make up for it. Two years into my employment the director of my department was fired, and my manager had to take on her duties with no compensation. Then just a few months ago the manager was fired, and now the team lead (who probably makes$20 an hour) is doing the job of the manager and director before her, and training the new manager that knows nothing of the department. You will be a number and nothing more to upper management. They don't believe in Cost off living adjustments. They will brag about profits during All Hands meetings, and then say they can't afford to give raises. Don't bother working hard because you will NEVER get a raise Avoid at all costs

Pros

Direct line managers are generally great and supportive. Colleagues support each other. Always evolving branch where there is often something new to learn.

Cons

Upper management is populated with despots and bullies. Both contract SLAs and internal work performance metrics are set without understanding of what is possible or the services being provided. The services are sometimes created without subject matter experts, leaving clients frustrated. Clients are almost less important to this company than employees with knowledge. Employees are constantly having to work harder to cover issues they know little about.

Pros

Colleagues are generally great and direct line managers are supportive. Pay is absolutely OK. Always something new to learn.

Cons

No work-life balance. Upper Management are clueless despots and often times rude. If you are a self-starter who like to hunt for info and train yourself, this is the place for you.

Pros

*Some REAL great talented people. One of the sweetest, smartest ladies there is the new auditor. Upper management is amazing but mid needs work. *They pay better than most places in Costa Rica. *Phone bill is paid and you get a brand new iPhone. *Has an association. *You work hard because your teammates are worth it.

Cons

*You will be heavily micromanaged and questioned about every move you do x3. Such as: “Why did you not put a comma after a certain word on your e-mail?” You will be speaking about this for the next 20 minutes while you could be doing some actual productive work instead. *Be prepared to work 15 hours a day and not get offered any type of extra pay for it. You will be LUCKY to get a full hour in for your lunch break. You will be called on holidays such as Easter Sunday and expected to do things on your days off too. *You are able to work from home which would make you feel as if you have a work life balance but in reality you don’t even have time to get up to make yourself a sandwich in your kitchen that’s 2 feet away from you. *The people that have a very good talent get overlooked. For example; my boss had a very good talent at finding areas that needed improvement. However, he was not able to even manage his own department because they wanted to bring in all these other departments to manage him instead. *It seems like there’s always something wrong with the system. We have to do a work around all the time and to be honest... If you could just fill out the purchase order by hand and scan it in, then file it like the old-fashioned way... We could probably work a normal eight hour shift... But everything is so digital that if you need to make one small correction sometimes you have to start all over with the whole purchase order. Something that would only take 15 minutes max to fill out by hand becomes a one hour + task in the digital world. *Caution: If your boss/co-worker or even someone that is above them tells you to do XYandZ and you do XY and Z... Be prepared to later explain to the SAME people, that told you what to do, why you did what they told you to do. Document EVERYTHING!

Pros

Mellow job in high tech mobile messaging industry. Most managers were good and job gave a lot of time with family.

Cons

Upper management execs changed all the time. No real job growth available as company was out of FL. Old technology, new products were mostly hot air. One manager was a real dilsnick.
