You'll reach the glass ceiling surprisingly quickly. It's a very small company and team that used to champion growing and developing the team along with the business and now relies on external hires and even outsourcing to plug gaps. The management team is not great at utilising the resources they have at their disposal, or at handling pressure or stressful situations which in turn make even the small things unnecessarily challenging. You might feel valued through a few nice words in team meetings but ultimately there is no real growth opportunity or offering in the business at this time, and ultimately there was no appreciation or recognition for this amongst seniors. It's an extremely unique and unnecessarily complex team structure which often hindered progress and delivery. A number of conversations took place with various individuals at the business on how to create a conducive working environment in office but none of this was taken on board. Leadership is not great having difficult conversations or opening a conversation on challenges when needed.
There is at least one good mentor in the business that you can learn a lot from so it could be a good stepping stone but not appropriate for anyone driven or motivated in advancing their career.
It was also challenging to make this experience relevant or relatable to most other companies and roles afterwards given how unique (and overcomplicated) the value offering, business model, and team structure is......... It was easy to feel trapped and in a dead end. Not entirely sure if this was intended...!
Proceed with caution!!
