Not a good company for smart digital professionals

Pros

There are not many pros to speak of. If you are a young, smart, driven, digital professional you really do not want to work here. There are a few fun people in the office but there are so many cons that overall I would encourage you not to work here.

Cons

Horrible health insurance, pretty much non-existent. Horrible culture - if you are 2 minutes late you get "written up". Executives invest very little in new technology. Executives all come from traditional print advertising and simply don't know much about digital. The office itself is very dark with no windows - it's sort of like working in a janitors closet. Salary is about 10-20% below industry standard.

Pros

Video games/entertainment are lots of fun to work on whether you enjoy them or not. Clients are great and know their business well.

Cons

Tangible Media has the potential to be a great place to work but is squandered by overly controlling, fly by the seat of their pants, incompetent owners and management. You will be treated like a child in the way you’re spoken to and in the sense that any work you produce must be overseen by them first - No plans, flowcharts, decks or emails can be sent out without their strict approval first. Respect is a huge issue overall as it simply doesn’t exist here. As an employee you are a worker bee and will be treated as such with little to no respect for your time, the work you produce, or the sacrifices made for the company. Additionally, there’s high levels of segregation in terms of what kinds of events and meetings you can and can’t attend. As opposed to full team outings or full team vendor meetings, only a select group of managers will be invited to events/meetings and if you are not a part of this group, it makes it an almost impossible task to network or learn more about the business you are in. This reinforces a poor/nonexistent corporate culture which has its own repercussions similar to an “us” vs. “them” mentality - when really everyone should be on the same team pushing toward a common goal (work you’re proud of). Compensation is lower in comparison to other large agencies that can provide more resources to help you along in your career path. And speaking of personal and career growth, there are few people to actually learn from at this company – There has been a mass exodus lately and anybody who was stellar at their job has left. The sad reality is that most people who are smart and know their job well do not last for long – it’s a constantly revolving door in terms of talent. Finally, the office itself is gross and small. There are no windows anywhere except in management’s offices. The best part might be that the kitchen sits right outside of the bathrooms which itself is simply disgusting and often smells – well – like a bathroom (surprise).
