Good co-workers, bad leadership

Pros

There are some snacks in the office and Keurig. Office parties for holidays. The marketing of the product is good and they (marketing) knows SaaS very well. Really only good thing is 100% paid insurance (no other benefits fyi).

Cons

During my employment, there was a lot of inappropriate behavior, language, and side comments among co-workers. It's definitely a man's company. If you are a woman, I suggest you consider and think about how thick your skin is. The running joke and saying in the company is that HR isn't here. Leadership isn't great and, from the outside, appears to not understand how to fix the software or how to relate to and care for people. It's like when you are remodeling your house and you notice the drywall needs to be replaced. You can either paint over it or replace it. In TeamSupport's case, they just continue to add more layers without fixing the issues of the software. When speaking with customers and potential customers, this was hard to shy away from. The CEO is also very difficult to work with and seems to not care about anything or anyone except to make money. I understand you have to make money as a business, but to treat employees the way he does, is unacceptable. If you do something wrong, he won't shy away from calling you out and cussing at you in front of the whole company... and good luck trying to defend yourself. It's no secret that building had an active shooter situation in 2017. Once we cleared the building, you can guess who the 1st person was to leave the property. There was no follow-up with employees, making sure everyone was okay, had a ride home (as our keys and laptops were left in the building), etc. This also was true when we came to the office Monday morning and there were bullet holes in our windows... but as a female if you feel unsafe, you can ask someone to walk you to your car. SMH They advertise that it's the best place to work in DFW. Just take a look at the reviews and the dates... how can a company be the best place to work with so little reviews, small company size, and an outdated software at best?

We have worked diligently to build a strong and inclusive culture at TeamSupport, so we take any comments like this very seriously. As a result of this anonymous review, we requested independent feedback from our female employees, and all were shocked and strongly disagreed. Not everyone is a fit for every company, and we certainly wish this individual the best in their future career.

Pros

The company is able to provide a job with a salary that is less than $10-15k compare average to the area. So, if no other offer is on the table, this offer may be used as a placeholder for the next job or for counter offer.

Cons

Technical side 1. Micromanagement at its best. Constantly pinged (on average every 2 hours) to ask if you have done a job. Need to time log your tasks 2. NOTHING to learn here. No scalability challenge. No architectural challenge. Just writing simple API in a heavily duplicated code base (means no refactoring going on) 3. Engineer are required to stay up late at night. Deployment is going on from 7PM - 1AM in the morning. And still have to work the next day. No compensation for those hours. Some time 2 deployments happened in a week. so, goodbye to your family time. 4. No real QA effort. so, be prepared to stay up late many nights to debug production code. 5. Code quality is extremely poor. The level of seniority is not based on skill but on the hours dedicated to the company. This lead to a very poorly designed code base. 6. Tech choice is questionable: The same web application has 3 front-end stacks running at the same time. Good luck learning all of them for a job 7. No actual direction is going on. You will just debug the code from those who left company few months ago Culture side of the work: 1. High turnover rates. Mostly quit within 6 months (including myself) 2. Why did people stay ? The people who stayed are those enjoyed working in a bubble of authority because if they left TeamSupport, the real world could see them as delusion of power. Also, their skill set won't give them the level of seniority they have at TeamSupport. 3. Treating employee without decency. They did not let me take my PTOs after I submit my 2 weeks resignation. Those PTOs that I saved up, I did not allow to take. 4. Management loves giving our order rather than discussion and agreement. Conclusion: Do not accept the offer. Not worth your time. I'd not recommend this company to anyone, even my worst enemy. P/s: I'm pretty sure HR will bite back at me on this comment. No sh!t given !

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We regret that your time with TeamSupport wasn't as positive as you wished it would be. We have a strong, goal-oriented and culture-forward organization. Some people are not able to live up to our values and accountability and decide to leave, while others thrive with our engineering challenges. Our current PTO policy doesn't allow team members to use their PTO as a notice, and we have just instituted an Open PTO policy which we feel is a great benefit for our employees. We wish you the best in your future endeavors and hope you can find a way to be successful at an organization that fits you better.

Pros

Employee paid health insurance Break room snacks

Cons

CEO - all leadership/management in general Horrible training, sink or swim mentality, outdated software Location - Old run down office Unhappy employees - everyone there is looking for a way out and fearful of their job Unhealthy stressful/toxic work environment. Your job duties are the least of your concerns here. No real structure sounds great until no one is on the same page with how this company wants the job to be performed.
