Pros

The pay is decent and the benefits are good.

Cons

The company is constantly let employee firefight and has never conducted a proper review of its processes. Every day is spent dealing with urgent and ad-hoc issues. The China departments will call you directly without any prior notice. They work on a 996 schedule and have no respect for the time of overseas employees. When you inform them that you have finished work for the day on 6pm, they think you are being difficult if you don't work until 10pm with them.

Thanks for sharing your review. Tencent Singapore is still in a startup mode, and we are taking active steps to better localize the business. We also want to ensure a satisfactory work-life balance for every employee. Many processes are still not fully developed, which we understand can be distressing for newbies. With regards to working overtime, we actively discourage teams to work beyond the normal schedule, and we invite everyone to manage their own type with some flexibility - that is also been implemented in China. We truly value employees health and we hope everyone at Tencent can enjoy a sustianiable balance between doing rewarding work and having rest/exercise. Nonetheless, we thank you for your contributions into building Tencent Singapore. Should you want to escalate any issues, we have an adhoc email address: HRSingapore@tencent.com Kind regards, International Talent Acquisition

International business

Pros

Trying to catch up with other international companies in terms of employee benefits. Worked with a lot of highly experienced colleagues in offices overseas.

Cons

Tencent still acts as a Chinese company after years of globalisation. Local employees are told regularly by headquarters that employees in China are much better than overseas employees and get questioned about our value to the company all the time.

996 Culture

Business outlook

Pros

Working in TEG, especially main job scope is serving Tencent cloud. Good explore, good colleagues, good lead and mentor(willing to give guidance and support).

Cons

- 996 culture, keep OT and receive calls/msg after working hour, even during midnight - culture shock due to oversea foreigner, other groups/business unit will keep chase the progress eventhough still got plenty of time. - never plan/schedule well, just want fast pace to settle everything. Wasted a lot of time/energy to finish the tasks if there are some mistakes(kinda hardworking performance for china ppl?) - small matter can create a large group in wecom(similar to wechat/whatsapp), drag a lot of ppl to solve issue instantly. - very low paid per working hour.

We are really serious against the 996 culture. Pls talk about this to your local HR contact. Employees' health is out no.1 concern in order to build a positive culture.
