Pros

Fully remote team, really cool suggested HR initiatives, interesting and useful product

Cons

For the first time, I had a chance to witness a manager screaming on employees during regular meetings, blaming others for the mistakes that were caused by poor planning and unclear expectations (goal setting). Extremely top-down leadership style where there's no space for employees when planning and setting reasonable team goals. The saddest part for me personally was that 'cutting throats' mentality is reinforced as it's considered to be good for business in the short term and team-work (shared responsibility) is punished. No wonder the team set up is changing every month. Even the best ideas for improvement suggested by HR were rejected by the team lead.

Thank you for taking time to leave us your feedback. Our People Ops team has been constantly working to find out what is going well and what needs improvement, including via regular team surveys and feedback sessions with teams. We are sorry to hear that you had a negative experience. Unfortunately, this is the first time we hear about the complaints that you bring out. The feedback we have gotten from the team is that Toggl has an open work culture and that people feel they have a say over their own work. Not playing blame-games and being kind to each other are among our most important team values. I would really appreciate if you could reach out to me by email to discuss this further. Any feedback is helpful to make sure we never miss any grievances.

Pros

- very welcoming, kind, understanding, supportive people - extreme flexibility in working hours/times/approach/etc. as long as I contribute well (company has been fully remote for 8+ years as well) - no intended crunch or overwork, active efforts to minimize/eliminate unintended ones - we actually do what we preach (i.e. trying to live up to company values, etc.) - something is always improving, my issues from when I rated Toggl 4/5 a few years ago have all improved a lot, as well as many other things - privately funded and very stable financially, and personnel-wise (no layoffs for financial reasons, or even redundancy reasons in years) - great hiring process that virtually removes the necessity for probation periods (huge benefit for both sides!)

Cons

- the company has grown up a lot in recent years, but it's still got further to go in terms of process maturity (things like project management, cross-team/department collaboration... the will is there, but we're still working on the skills) - Toggl is not an exponentially scaling start-up (anymore), however, growth has been positive every year, and there are good plans to step it up further - with remote work, flexibility and freedom comes responsibility as well, while we do a lot to help, being successful at Toggl still requires a good amount of self-motivation, bias for action, ownership, accountability, etc. - salaries are not competitive with all markets, though there is a strong drive (and actual salary increases) that are making these gaps smaller and smaller

Unstable company

Pros

Talented individuals, an excellent benefits package, and a generally good salary for junior to mid-level positions, though less competitive for senior and lead roles.

Cons

The company is facing financial instability, with layoffs and little to no salary reviews or poor ones. The CTO's direction is highly questionable, and many of the talented individuals who once worked here have already left. Over the past year, morale has significantly declined, and cross-team collaboration is uncoordinated.
