Pros

- Supportive colleagues who you can also have a laugh with… or when they laugh at you and make homophobic & sexual & racist remarks… - Free coffee machine when it’s working (usually works 25% of the time) - Drinks every Fridays!! (Okay maybe like 1 out of every 5 Fridays…)

Cons

I really thought I would think of a few genuine good things to say about TopQuote, when in reality, it’s a complete circus to work for and I couldn’t represent to be Guys clown (MD) like he wanted me to be. From the interview stage, you will be told of how great you are, and what you will become and how the business will be transformed with all these new ideas and how quickly you can progress within the company! Though you ARE great, the rest of it is utter BS, your skills will certainly not be valued much here. I can personally say, that I have followed the company’s ethos with great attendance, and consistently hit my targets. The problem lies with Guy, a very narcissistic man who doesn’t follow through with much of what he says. You will find the recruitment here much like a revolving door where a new group of people are taken in every month and the average person will stay for roughly 2 months. Holidays are pretty much non existent here and the pay is mediocre. No health or life insurance benefits which is funny when you’re working for a life insurance company... You will also have to attend meetings 2/3 times everyday grilling you of the office performance which gets very laborious because neither the MD or the managers are ever happy. They don’t care about changing people lives and making a difference like they claim. Even when targets are being met you will constantly get negative feedback and always being micromanaged. Moral of the story, don’t work here to sell life insurance, or you might have been in a position like me where if I spent a day longer there, I’d have took my own life from the 14th floor because of how depressing it can be.

Pros

Gained experience for CV. Decent office location. The sales staff were nice but they have all left. Provided free drinks and food a couple of times for staff parties.

Cons

Bad hours 8.30-6 Toxic senior management - nothing is ever good enough. No real oppirtunity to make good money initally due to a weak commission structure, delayed bonuses for 3 months, no reduced targets when you have holidays, majority of staff didnt hit target, cold leads, no real dialler system etc... Toxic atmosphere - constantly micromanaged with no sense of freedom. Weird holiday system. Taking holidays is looked down on - days need to be acrued, often only get approved a couple of days before and can be declined if you have not sold enough that week. They also request to know why you are taking a holiday which is really weird. Constant staff turnover. Literally no one i ever spoke with ever said they enjoyed the job.

Hours are always made clear from the outset. We work Monday to Friday, full time hours and full time pay/earnings. You are not working hard alone, everyone in the business works hard too. We are confident that any experienced person will tell you that hard work is a prerequisite for achieving success. Commission – It’s unfortunate that you gave up within your first month because we are confident that you would have seen a return with some sustained effort. Performance related pay is attractive to those that are prepared to put in a performance. Salaries - Based on staff who are currently working at TQ and have been here for 6+months - basic salaries have risen from between £20k-£30k and OTE of £29-£45k is currently being achieved. Every sales person who has passed probation in this office has received a salary increase. Management – Trying hard, learning from mistakes and success is always celebrated and rewarded at TQ - Support is offered to everyone and we always aim to be understanding of all our staff. Of course staff also have to understand they have to follow some rules in working life, and that every job has them. Re holidays: if holidays are requested at the last minute (which I believe in this case it was) and many sales staff are already booked off, a basic reason for holiday urgency may be requested to see if an alternative can be sought - The holiday request that you refer to was granted. High staff turnover - Sales is a difficult industry especially for people who have not had much/ if any work or sales experience beforehand, therefore turnover will naturally be higher than other companies and industries. We do however thoroughly discuss expectations and demands of a sales job throughout the interview process and induction. Our willingness to teach inexperienced staff can have consequences, but the benefits outweigh the risks and we believe in nurturing talent. A good proportion of our employees have been here for many years. Micromanaging - We would never throw someone in the deep end having just come out of 2 weeks of induction training. It is only natural that we would want to provide hands-on support to help you settle into a new environment. As previously stated, it is a difficult industry, especially if you have not worked in it before therefore it’s natural that we want to be on hand to provide you every opportunity to make the job a success. When you fail, we fail. There are no winners when it doesn’t work, but we try to learn from our mistakes and we keep making improvements. We wish you luck in the future

Pros

Met some good friends here but the job has no positives

Cons

Call centre job pretending to be a graduate role. Working hours are way too long for the pay. Staff treated extremely bad. Broke all Covid regulations the entire time I was there leading to a full office breakout. No access to drinking water. Would avoid. Negative reviews are constantly being deleted by managers.

Whilst we will take on board any critical or constructive feedback, some of your points are frankly ridiculous and do not warrant comment. It is important to state that businesses have had to make significant modifications to working practices during the health pandemic and closing the kitchen was a logical measure to ensure the safety of all staff. When the office was re-occupied, we conducted our risk assessment and management agreed that having communal equipment (kettle’s, plates, cups, microwave etc) was not a workable approach under the circumstances. It was made perfectly clear to all staff that they must either bring in their own refreshments/ food, or source them from the many local places on our doorstep, during their regular breaks. We also supplied staff with their own flask to assist. This approach was common sense. The company has gone to great lengths and expense to provide all manner of precautions from one way systems, screens, PPE, wall mounted disinfectant wipes, hand sanitiser, regular lateral flow testing, temperature testing, enhanced cleaning and regular fogging, etc. We have taken the situation very seriously and supported our employees whenever and wherever needed. Whilst you were only employed for less than a year, you achieved a 25 percent increase in your salary which was a testament to our collective hard work. You decided to give up and that was your prerogative. We wish you every success in whatever job that you decide to pursue in your future.
