Pros

I've been around TrackVia for over a decade and was, at one point, their loudest online advocate and supporter of the mission. This culminated to an opportunity to work inside the company for a few years on the revenue, engineering, and business development fronts. I got a deep look behind the curtain at a company I supported unconditionally - a pro and a con.

Cons

TrackVia has been on a negative trajectory for a while & only survived this long due to aggressive contractual renewals and data lock-in. The core technology is ancient and unmaintainable; it's no secret that the product is far behind its competitors' on innovation and robustness. Engineering is scared to make changes because the platform is that unstable and they laid off everyone who understood how it works at a root level. That's a bit of a problem for a software company, don't you think? New features are rare and half baked, which makes the hard product uncompetitive. There are literally thousands of open tickets in the development queue which have been stale for years. Simple customer requests that would have taken five minutes have been unfulfilled for almost a decade. Inventing and navigating bureaucracy is the name of the game at TrackVia (a company with only ~50 employees, insane). All public claims surrounding AI are erroneous - do not be fooled. The culture is generally negative & is becoming more toxic by the day. Even prior to the recent acquisition, many inside the company prefer the status quo and are openly hostile towards those who raise concerns, propose improvements, or do anything except sit back and collect a less-than-average paycheck. Some exceptions do exist - there are individual contributors that take pride in their work and strive for greatness, but they're rapidly being pushed out by Bow River Capital to favor the sycophantic "yes men" who bow down to a new group of antisocial c-suite leaders and directors. BRC's GP has a personal vendetta against the company due to a "past incident" that was swept under the rug. His name was aggressively scrubbed from everything involving TrackVia. This company was only purchased by BRC to fulfill the GP's revenge fantasy before his retirement. There is no long-term future here. It is so evident that they are asset stripping this company and funneling all free cashflow to their friends and PE management fees. We all know how that goes. If you want to work 60+ hours a week (in office), and deal with a toxic private equity firm draining the bank account and operating on pure emotion, this is the place for you.

Pros

After keeping in contact with a lot of coworkers, not many pros remaining. - unlimited PTO (with many cons) - flexible work location

Cons

- Leadership is incredibly manipulative and does very little. - They stack pretty much everything on the Engineering team making it very unsustainable work. - Leadership doesnt trust the employees. - Leaders pretend theyre your support and then behind your back they joke about how theyre running an experiment to see how much work you can put on a person before they hit a limit (super toxic) - they like to think all the disgruntled reviews on glassdoor are just the many people they laid off. Nope, I wasn't laid off. I had a horrible experience of failed promises, overloading with work, and fake manipulative behavior by most leaders.

I'm sorry to read this -- especially since I've been part of leadership a long, long time and am probably to blame -- but I greatly appreciate the feedback. I certainly can't speak for everyone, but I know I give it my very best. It's definitely difficult and I almost certainly don't always get it right. But I'll use this feedback as motivation to keep pushing to do better. Thank you again and I wish you good luck.

Sadly Spiraling Down the Drain

Pros

The technology and product are top notch.

Cons

Trackvia took the drastic action of attempting to show profitability by cutting costs. Unfortunately, they did this on the backs of employees: approximately 1/3 of the total company. They showed little loyalty to long-term team members who were instrumental to the creation of the product they now personally profit from. As often happens in this situation, friendship groups and popularity drove the decision making on who stayed and who was let go. The remaining executive team is almost completely made up of dramatically inexperienced and sadly incompetent sycophants. The company could not sustain sales, became stuck with essentially only old customers, and was unable to gain significant new ones. What is left is a zombie organization who's parasitic leadership is grasping on to a plumb paycheck they likely could not achieve elsewhere.
