Pros

Updated office space and utilization of good laptops.

Cons

I had the unfortunate experience of working at Trainor Associates, and I can confidently say it was a toxic and unprofessional environment from start to finish. While the work itself could have been interesting, the overall experience was marred by poor management, a lack of support, and an overwhelming sense of negativity that permeated the entire company. The biggest issue here is the management. They seemed more interested in micromanaging and creating an atmosphere of fear rather than fostering creativity or growth. Communication was consistently poor, and any attempts to bring up concerns were met with defensiveness or complete dismissal. It's clear that leadership lacks basic managerial skills and an understanding of how to build a healthy, collaborative workplace. To make matters worse, the pay was significantly below industry standards. Despite the demanding workload and high expectations, compensation was far from fair. Employees are expected to take on multiple roles without any recognition or proper compensation, leading to burnout and frustration. The promise of growth or advancement within the company feels more like a hollow promise than a reality. Overall, working here was an incredibly disappointing experience. The toxic atmosphere, coupled with poor pay and management, makes it impossible to recommend this agency to anyone seeking a positive work environment or fair compensation. If you value your mental health, career growth, and fair treatment, I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

Pros

The New Hartford office is a lovely and bright space with many nice amenities like beverage coolers, the latest tech, comfortable hang-out spaces, and monthly team lunches. Trainor Associates produces good work and will challenge you to improve your craft.

Cons

Though Trainor Associates will push you to improve in your field, the company culture fosters stress and dissatisfaction due to pervasive mistrust and lack of respect from upper management. Having worked in my field for many years, I am not new to the industry, nor am I afraid of hard work. I do not want or need to be coddled, constantly praised, or continually rewarded. Trainor’s environment and disregard for employee well-being stand out from the crowd, however, as particularly demoralizing, counterproductive, and dysfunctional. Instead of granting experienced professionals the autonomy their expertise warrants, management imposes constant, unhealthy micromanagement tactics and treats employees in a patronizing/infantilizing manner. There is a consistent lack of acknowledgment for hard work, making it difficult for employees to feel valued, resulting in frustration and a lack of motivation. For example, despite my dedicated effort during my time there, I never received a raise (nor did anyone else with whom I spoke), which reflects the company’s lack of investment in retaining and rewarding its employees. The above has resulted in constant turnover and understaffing, yet leadership refuses to alter its behavior, perpetuating a cycle of dissatisfaction and instability. Excessive demands create an environment where it’s nearly impossible to complete tasks effectively, yet employees are still criticized when they fail to meet unrealistic deadlines. The problematic work culture at Trainor Associates stems from the top, with leadership failing to acknowledge its own flaws and refusing to make meaningful changes. Certain upper management managers behave in a domineering and harsh manner, creating a tense and intimidating work environment that only undermines morale. Employee policies are inconsistent and constantly changing, making it challenging to meet management’s continually shifting and nebulous guidelines. On the positive side, middle management is better to work with, and the workplace offers perks like new MacBook Pros for all employees, a modern minimalist workspace, occasional food trucks, beverage coolers, and snacks. However, these perks do little to offset the problematic work culture, where employee well-being and job satisfaction are consistently overlooked.

Pros

TRAINOR provides company laptops to all employees, and everyone uses the same brand. Previous employees of TRAINOR have gone on to do great work.

Cons

The management staff wants to hear feedback but cannot handle changes well. I expressed my feedback to management before leaving. The work-from-home policy worked out of trust, and trust issues within the company made working from home difficult. I was unaware that there is only a New Hartford office for regular employees when interviewing. It was challenging to complete work with mandatory distractions in the office, and I often spent more time outside of my designated hours working. As someone who finished their work promptly, the micromanagement was not a sign of dedication but a warning sign of not trusting employees. I was dissatisfied with the mentality of gaining knowledge over a higher paycheck. I would have preferred a pay increase over some of the additional perks provided. During my time, multiple employees quit, which made for a stressful environment and lots of extra work. While marketing is fast-paced, work-life balance was important to me, and I did not feel it was as valued by the company leaders. I put in the extra time and effort and did not feel my work was recognized. The environment aligned with my work style, but I did not feel the work hard, play harder mentality aligned with all of management.
