Pros

Being overworked and underpaid gives you great motivation to find another position where you’re valued and compensated appropriately.

Cons

I would not recommend working at TI to anyone. Not only was I grossly underpaid during my time there but I also witnessed some of the most underhanded and entitled behavior by the new management following the retirement of the founders. People who have been there since the beginning of TI are leaving because of all the office politics, the lack of any financial incentive, and the way that the company is treating their most tenured employees. The company claims that compensation is confidential and threatens termination if discussed between employees; what they don’t want you to know is that someone doing the same job and who has been with the company for much longer can make significantly less than a new hire. Or that if you leave the company even a day before the end of the year, they won’t give you the 10% bonus that you EARNED and would get if you stayed there the extra day, but they don’t tell you that until after the fact. Don’t believe the diversity they display on their website, the company didn’t even offer same-sex spousal benefits until 2021. Management is made up of older white men who have very little empathy or desire to understand what their employees truly need, aside from ensuring their productivity/profit goals are met. The most recent 5 star reviews are disingenuous and the responses are nothing more than an attempt to save face; if only they put that much energy into ensuring appropriate compensation and resource management.

We’ve got room for improvement for sure, and naturally, I’m sorry to read you were disappointed while employed here. As I’ve stated in other posts, we are hiring the most people in one calendar year that we’ve ever hired, and we definitely are addressing the need to relieve the load of any person that has too much on their plate on a consistent basis. As far as pay, we have never failed to give our people pay raises, promotions, equity adjustments, etc. when earned and/or needed. We are consistently researching where our employees’ compensation stands relative to their skillset, responsibility, education, and overall hustle. We have also NEVER failed to reward our teammates at the end of the year with a discretionary bonus even when we didn’t make plan. Pay is important. Our employees’ lives are much bigger than TransImpact. We know that and we believe it. That’s why employees are the number 1 topic we discuss month after month. From the remote work policy to Covid safety (at the time), culture committee, IMPACT1, etc., we talk about what’s most important, and that’s you. I can’t make you believe that, but it’s true. We recently sent out a survey asking about the preferred remote work policy and the bonus structure. The actions we are taking this month are directly related to employee feedback. Sincerely, Berkley Stafford, CEO

Pros

I met some great people while I worked there

Cons

Leadership does not listen to the people working on the ground level. They make decisions that affect not only the employees professional lives, but their personal ones as well. Leadership promises raises, job opportunities, advancement, etc. and it doesn't happen. Anytime you question the lack of raises, promotions, etc, you are made out to be ungrateful for what you have. The amount of people who have exited over the past 2 months is astonishing. Employees are constantly overworked and grossly underpaid. Leadership want to paint a picture of a perfect company and "family" atmosphere but when push comes to shove they do not value their employees. They are fantastic at giving out pizza and throwing parties, but do not take care of their employees financially or mentally. Leadership is extremely unappreciative of the people who are on the ground level keeping the lights on. There is a definite lack of transparency and communication. Employees are told what leadership thinks they "want" to hear vs the truth. Leaders are spending too much time micromanaging and less time building up employees and helping them succeed. New employees are often paid higher then the seasoned employees who have given heart and soul to the company because they negotiated higher salaries at the beginning. While that is a positive for new employees, it creates discord and makes the employees who have been there feel even more discouraged. If leadership doesn't make drastic changes, all of the employees that truly care about the company will leave and find better opportunities for themselves and their families.

I sense frustration in your feedback and respect your opinion. Regarding the promise of raises, opportunities, advancement, etc., we have NEVER failed to give a raise in the 13 years we’ve been in business. We promote people every year and provide advancement to those that have earned that career enhancement. We are definitely not perfect, but we are a family atmosphere and I would go further to say, what family is perfect? We give full transparency to the path we are heading down, and I’ve said countless times, an open and honest environment is the best one. I credit you with bringing up an issue all employees have, and that’s wage inflation relative to existing employees and new hires. There’s no “golden arrow” or perfect response to that one, but I promise you we are dealing with it in the appropriate manner every day. Sincerely, Berkley Stafford, CEO

Pros

The office is in Emerald Isle (you'll get to be there once or twice a year tops unless you live in the area). 401k match is nice too, in comparison to past experience at larger companies.

Cons

Leadership, from the top down, will do the standard "culture" pitch constantly - while in 2023, has been getting rid of hard-working, quality, and revenue generating employees across many departments. Long story short, if you're looking to be with a company for more than a year, look elsewhere.

Thanks for the comments and feedback. I have to disagree with you about our approach to culture. From our inception in 2008, we have spoken about culture and the importance of hard-working employees every single year with fervor and conviction. We live and breathe our culture and worked tirelessly to keep it alive in the COVID years with the establishment of our Culture Committee. When other companies forewent their benefits in a time of crisis, we kept half-day Fridays, kept all benefits including profit sharing, increased our 401k match, and the list goes on. We have been and always will be ferocious about our culture. I respect your opinion and can sense frustration. We hold our employees in highest regard and no business is immune to change over time. Through that change, we have loyal employees who have been with us since 2008 and many others with multiple years. Culture and employees consume and dominate our discussions from the top to the bottom. Always will. Thanks for your time here and sharing your perspective. Sincerely, Berkley Stafford, CEO
