Pros

They at least pay you something to attend the daily meetings. I lost money paying for daily travel expenses when compared to my monthly commissions.

Cons

Constellation, the energy supplier we represented is a solid company. However you are treated as a third world person by their Houston reps. They are marketing oriented at best. Don't question what we are saying and do exactly what you are told. Hard pill to swallow if you've been in sales for any length of time. Drove 56 miles roundtrip to attend morning meeting and give daily goals. Then had to back to area where I live to begin daily call schedule. Was initially told territories were protected only to find out that one rep was being allowed to go where ever she wanted. Trelevate management are top notch con men. Googled the only address I could find, one on our check stub, and it is a residence in a plat in Phoenix. Everyone works from home which explains why you can never get an answer to a question. Its a store front operation. Don't question anything done or you will be labeled as being negative and shunned by local managers. Left after 6 months and took position with energy broker. Couldn't believe the difference. Still have Constellation as main supplier to use but rules are different. Lower electric and natural gas rates from same supplier. Go figure. Can negotiate rate to be competitive and no TPV calls. Have formal business cards with printed name and phone number as well as ability to communicate via emails and letters to clients. A no-no with Trelevate. Better commission structure and NO MORNING MEETINGS.

Thank you for your feedback. I am choosing to respond to this so long after the post because yes, when we first started, we did work from home to keep costs down so we could put more money into our training, employees and services. Because we grew so much, several years ago, corporate moved into office space in Phoenix. Since that initial move, we've had to move into even a larger space because of growth. I am sorry your early experience wasn't all positive and I wish you luck in your career.

Pros

There are no Pros...If you need a job, you need to look elsewhere. They found me when I was unemployed and it seemed like a life raft had been thrown to me but was I mistaken...The principals of the very small company, operate out of the their homes. The president is very convincing of how great an opportunity you have and where the company is going and how you will be part of it all... However, you will quickly find it's all blowing sunshine up your butt and there is no loyalty to you for anything you've done. It's all about "The Client" who doesn't care about you either. You could sign the biggest account in the world and then go 21 days without a sale and find yourself out on the street without a job. In other words, you could sign one account a month that would pay more than the total of someone signing 3/week for the entire month and they would rather have the other person. Makes no sense, right? There was another company, that had an identical business model to Trelevate. They provided an out sourced sales force for an energy company. It was practically an identical salary and commission and everything. They shuffle people around tiny territories every couple months until they have saturated the market. Then one day they fired everyone...every single person was let go. It will only take a couple of years to do that in your market and then everything you thought you built comes crashing down...SEE BELOW

Cons

The number one reason you will not keep this job: You will not be allowed to go re-sign YOUR existing customer, that YOU made a relationship with, when it is time for them to renew. THEY ARE STEALING YOUR PIPELINE. The Client will then handle all renewals from in-house, now nice. A sales job with no renewals or repeat business, are you kidding me?? How long can you last being shuffled around a different territory, that someone just went through mind you, all while having to make new connections constantly?? You can't and you won't. Just pray you do well enough for them to put you into their smoke and mirrors CDP (career development program) so you can get the opportunity to open a new office and be a part of the scam yourself. It's a burn and turn environment and they don't care. And they won't train you with current events in the power and gas industry, it's strictly rah rah go out there and get them b.s. MY ADVICE: IF YOU ARE A CURRENT TRELEVATE EMPLOYEE, TAKE YOUR PIPELINE AND GO TO AN ENERGY BROKER WHERE YOU GET RESIDUALS ON YOUR ACCOUNTS FOR EVERY YEAR YOU SIGN THEM. THAT IS A TRUE CAREER OPPORTUNITY WHERE YOU CAN BUILD ON YOUR PIPELINE FOR THE FUTURE. OH, AND YOU WILL ALSO FIND THEY HAVE BETTER RATES FOR THAN YOU DID. OF COURSE YOU CAN'T COMPETE WITH A BROKER WHEN YOU'RE A ONE TRICK PONY AND YOUR TRICK ISN'T AS GOOD AS THE COMPETITION'S. IF YOU ARE NOT A CURRENT TRELEVATE EMPLOYEE, CONSIDER YOURSELF LUCKY! AND START SEEKING EMPLOYMENT ELSEWHERE...THIS IS A DEAD END JOB ALL THE POSITIVE REVIEWS ARE PEOPLE WHO JUST STARTED WORKING THERE, IT TAKES A LITTLE TIME BEFORE YOU GET TO SEE THE WIZARD BEHIND THE CURTAIN. LEARN FROM THOSE WHO CRASHED AND BURNED BEFORE YOU AND RUN!

Because we grew so much, several years ago, corporate moved into office space in Phoenix. Since that initial move, we've had to move into even a larger space because of growth. As for our CDP program, as of now, 47% of our managers came through from a sales consultant position. We also earned a spot on the INC 5000 fastest growing companies list 2 years in a row as well as a best places to work award. I only point this out as much learning and growing has taken place since our inception and we are only looking to improve even more! Best of luck to you in your career!

Pros

Have the ability to make a good short-term and fluctuating income from monthly sales commission if your territory’s rates are competitive lower than local municipal aggregations, your local utility distribution company’s or competitors. The company tries to set corporate values with having the overall presence of being “a family oriented supportive based company,” but this mentality is gradually changing to the complete opposite as the company continues to grow in size.

Cons

The salary is only $22,000, which is more than the average McDonald’s assistant manager salary. The company states you’re paid salary, but this statement isn’t true at all. If your activity is low for a particular day or not working until 5pm, they could determine to pay you or not. Salary is you get a fixed amount no matter how many hours you put in. This isn’t really salary based. The company is so obsessive and pressures their sales force about breaking sales records and exceeding unrealistic sales quotas, they could care less about unexpected circumstances that could take place in their sales consultants’ lives. True Story: A few months back, I’d received tragic news about a personal matter. I’d notified management early in the morning that I was not able to work on that day due to a personal emergency. Later that afternoon, management had called me to discuss the matter of increasing my door knocks (number of businesses I go to on a daily basis) even when I was one of the top sales consultants in the company. This clearly shows they don’t care about their sales consultants and it’s all about their client Constellation! Have to make a minimum of 3 sales per month, which is a set criteria from Constellation. So, if someone closed the largest account in history or closes 40 sales in one month; the sales consultant would be fired from making only 2 sales the following month. This doesn’t make any sense at all. The sales consultants’ territories are too small to consider this as a long term career. The turnover rate is extremely high and it’s set up as a Churn and Burn Sales Company! Hardly paid anything in advance to cover gas expenses or car depreciation while working. If you do the math, the amount of money a sales consultant makes isn’t much at all. They say you can make six figures, but only 1 or 2 sales consultants within the entire company have an income that’s somewhat close to that amount.

Thank you for your feedback. First and foremost, let me apologize for you being contacted later in the day after you had explained you would be out. That is not a common occurance for Trelevate. Management has discussed much of your advice and "cons" section and would love to speak to you directly. If you would like to call me at 480.460.0294, we can dig into it a bit more. Thank you.
