Pros
It's an opportunity to expand one's skills working within the field of Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Recovery.
Cons
Clients are not treated with fair and impartial service, discharges are made unethically and based on personal biases and opinions. Incidents in which both staff AND clients have filed formal grievances with higher-ups have fallen on deaf ears. No checks and balances to hold anyone accountable. Staff is generally disrespected at best and bullied at worst. Staff often works alone, even in situations in which the directors know ahead of time that potentially threatening/dangerous clients will be returning to the grounds to retrieve personal belongings. Pay is marginal for the skills and commitment necessary but is a footnote compared to the toxicity of the environment. And yet, extremely high turnover rate has raised no red flags.
