It's Like "The Firm." Avoid At All Costs!!

Pros

The checks clear. For now.

Cons

Fear, intimidation, and lies are the norm around here. What they call "management" would be considered bullying anywhere else. Lots of inappropriate behavior and documented sexual harassment. Not at all interested in doing great creative. No matter what the budget, there is never enough to do the project right. Funds just seem to "disappear." (wink-wink.) Current Chief Creative Officer (Quincy Cherry) has a horrible reputation. He has won no new business of significance in years, but managed to lose legacy accounts Burger King and 3 Musketeers. Barely hanging on to Ford. (I know for a fact the client has inquired about moving the business.) Lots of good people either leave, get pushed out, or fired because they refuse to be "controlled" by a overbearing CCO who insists on treating grown-ups like children. No one on the creative side wants to work for or believes in this guy. Tons of people have interviewed for an ECD job (that has been open for years) but no one will bite. And I don't blame them. Anybody who has done their homework knows better than to come work for him, or ever work for him again. Not only is he petty and unprofessional, he pits employees against each other and fosters nothing but a cocoon of hate and resentment.

Toxic work environment with rampant scapegoat culture. Stay away.

Pros

Steady paycheck and good experience depending on what you work on.

Cons

Rampant scapegoating from leadership team and co-workers. Public shaming and putting folks on blast happens regularly, and seemingly with great relish from leadership team and others alike. Entirely too much gossip and nonsense from adult co-workers about others. No mentoring from leadership team. Fear and blame culture perpetuated by management. Non collaborative work environment encouraged by leadership. Poor leadership who engage in demotivating behavior. Leadership that perpetuates throwing employees under the bus to save their own skin, while at the same time taking credit for employee's successes. Attitude, bad behavior, and scapegoating tactics from individuals who should be leading by example. If you have other options, consider them seriously before accepting an offer here. While it's a multicultural workspace, it's also a terrible work environment with the wrong resources in place. Snide comments and demoralizing tactics are effective, and are implemented in full force here. Some don't complain because it's the job they know how the system works and how to work with egotistical leaders. Others complain and decide to leave or are set up to fail and get dismissed. So many things go wrong here because of lack of process and communication. And when things eventually go wrong, people are thrown under the bus. The phrase "thrown under the bus" is used commonly here.

Leadership Will Never Learn

Pros

There are a few smart people at the agency, but they leave because of, lack of growth, unproductive work environment, horrible clients and toxic leadership team.

Cons

You have people in VP roles, that have no idea, what they are doing. They're hired because they are friends with someone on the leadership team. While people who have the skillset carry their workloads. There are so many meetings, but nothing get's done. The agency is ran by people, who are self centered and don't care or treat their employees with respect. The CEO had the nerve to make it mandatory for everyone to attend a 50 year anniversary celebration, but didn't thank anyone, but herself. Call me, crazy, but that is rude and classless. Don't work here, they will use up your talents and when you have the nerve to object about anything, you have a target on your head. Lack growth, subpar resources and the NY office is no place to bring clients. It's old, run down and empty because so many people have quit.
