Bias towards Akamai

Pros

1) Good market - ecommerce search is a large market 2) Good traction - company has grown over the past 2 years

Cons

1) Recently lots of senior management and overall employee have come from Akamai and there is extreme partiality towards them. New COO is from Akamai and is comfortable with only people he has worked with in the past. Does not trust old employees who have delivered constantly for so many years 2) Founders have given up on the company. No longer have an opinion or say in company decisions. Blindly following what new Akamai employees are saying 3) No respect for paying bonuses on time. Keep making excuses. Losing ethical value

Not a place to work for a peace of mind

Pros

- Some highly talented and passionate engineers - Free food and snacks

Cons

The company's ecommerce Search product is not the best in the market. Multiple competitors are innovating with new features and the product is rapidly falling behind. New products under development do not even launch and get scrapped altogether, after wasting time, money and effort. People: Product Managers - Highly paid, IIM grads with a sense of entitlement. Always have an opinion about other peoples work. Zero clue about their own projects' timelines and motivations. Senior Management - Sit in the US. Have no idea how to manage remote teams. CEO - The CEO is an arrogant and petty person who has zero people management skills and no respect for the work of others. Highly opinionated, and berates others on calls without listening to any justification whatsoever. Customer Success - large number of Customer Success personnel have either quit or been fired. For a time, engineers and developers were forced to handle customer tickets rather than work on the product features. New hires are brought onboard with the promises of working on products and then made to work on customer tickets. CTO - A much better guy than the CEO. But has to realize throwing money at problems won't fix them. HR - Generally okay people. But are forever stressed by the senior management's clueless requirements. Numerous people across Marketing, CS and Product have been fired or left the company in the last 1 year Culture: Politics present in large doses. Usually perpetrated by one or two key individuals but with arguments and fights felt across the organization.
