Good company but toxic environment

Pros

The company had a strong forward order book which offered a near certain guarantee of future work for model life with low risk of redundancy. Some excellent supervisors, senior supervisors and departmental managers who although have to deal with tough situations are fair and very good at how they deal with those situations. Opportunity to progress throughout the business for those who are willing to put the time and effort in to get themselves noticed.

Cons

It is a very toxic environment which is pushed through all levels of the business from directors and senior management level. Heavy involvement from senior management throughout any disciplinary process with decisions to dismiss/stand down from positions before a formal investigation has been performed and pressure out onto the person investigating to deliver that verdict in fear of being singled out or targeted for not following that instruction. A strong culture of blame and fear throughout the plant. Overtime is enforced on staff with threats to discipline staff who don’t work enough overtime. Staff have asked what is described as ‘a reasonable amount of overtime required’ is with the only response being whatever is required, and no figure as to how many hours that is. The redundancy process is corrupt due to a set criteria meaning there is an imbalance to objective and subjective criteria. Names are picked before scores are set and subjective criteria altered to make the numbers fit.

Pros

Lots of overtime which allows you to boost your income. Friendly staff which helps pass the time of long hours monotonous tasks.

Cons

Most people who join unipres do through an agency called pinpoint. They tell you to work more than 48 hours a week and try and force you to work 7 days a week,if you don't they won't offer you a permanent contract. There are agency staff who have been working for more that 2 year's who haven't had a contract. The company abuses the temporary workers regulations. Once they do give you a contract it's only 6 month fixed term contract. Zero promotional opportunities Rubbish basic pay rate.
